7 days after its premiere last week, Netflix announced that they have greenlit Devil May Cry for a second season, following the success of its first season which is based on the popular Capcom video game series.

I’m thrilled to share that our latest gaming adventure, Devil May Cry, has been a massive hit! In just the first three days, it racked up an impressive 5.3 million views, landing it at No. 4 on Netflix’s global top 10 series list. To put the cherry on top, it even received a stunning 95% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes! Can’t wait to dive back in and see what’s next!
In the show, Johnny Yong Bosch lends his voice to Dante, a character who is half-human and half-demon, and is known as one of the deadliest demon hunters globally. Previously, Bosch voiced Nero in the Devil May Cry video game series.
Actress Scout Taylor-Compton appears alongside Hoon Lee (as the White Rabbit), Chris Coppola (as Enzo Ferino), and the late Kevin Conroy (initially portraying Vice President William Baines in the first season) in this series. Prior to his passing in 2022, Conroy, who was renowned for voicing Batman for three decades, had recorded many of his lines as Baines. However, Ian James Corlett took over to voice Baines for any scenes where Conroy wasn’t present.
In a conversation with TopMob, Devil May Cry’s showrunner Adi Shankar discussed the sixth episode of Season 1, which delved into the backstories of characters Lady and the White Rabbit through mostly visual storytelling. This episode is widely considered one of the season’s standouts.
It’s currently unclear when Devil May Cry Season 2 will debut on Netflix, as they typically release their animated series with gaps of two to three years between seasons. If this trend continues, we might have to wait until 2027 or 2028 for the new season to arrive.
