The third season of “The White Lotus” has wrapped up, and while creator Mike White is still embroiled in disputes with his former composer instead of basking in the series’ success, the rest of us have tasks at hand. Mainly, speculating about the cast and setting for the next season. Some are suggesting that the show, after three hot seasons, might venture into a snowy landscape (perhaps Sandra Hüller could be involved?). However, producer David Bernad revealed on The Bill Simmons Podcast that White dislikes cold weather. What we do know is that White prefers to avoid predictable locations. “Where we decide to go next could have a significant impact [on the locale],” he told THR before the season-three finale. “That’s what made shooting in Thailand so intriguing. It’s difficult to return to places like Paris, as it feels like a cop-out.” So, here’s our best guess for the fourth season of “The White Lotus“. We’re taking a risk, but we believe that’s what it takes! The only condition: there must be a Four Seasons hotel in the area, since that’s usually where the show is filmed.
Argentina (Buenos Aires)
White Lotus has not ventured to South America so far, but Buenos Aires could be an ideal destination for the series to offer a unique blend of its signature ambiance and something new. Notably, Argentina is known for being a refuge for some Nazis post-WWII, which would add depth to a show that centers around a murder. In light of this, we believe casting Christoph Waltz could enrich the narrative. After all, he has recently started working in television.
Dubai
In my perspective, you’ve heard of a place that’s home to countless wealthy residents and towering skyscrapers – Dubai. Now, it might be tricky due to the UAE’s filming permit policies and their preference for more refined productions. But let’s face it, this show is a massive success on HBO. Perhaps they’ll make an exception. If Mike White can pull it off, I believe he should consider casting someone in a gay role, and I’m suggesting none other than Jane Lynch, a favorite of Christopher Guest’s (similar to Parker Posey and Jennifer Coolidge).
Sydney
In simple terms, “The White Lotus” could thrive on the vast Australian island filled with mullets, koalas, and dangerous creatures. It’s a nerve-wracking location! Yet, let me tell you something equally unnerving – complex human relationships. Considering the intimidating environment of Australia, we envision this season to be packed with outdoor activities, and it requires an exceptional screamer in the cast. And who screams more convincingly than Regina Hall?
Cairo
At some stage, “The White Lotus” might face the challenge of portraying the entire African continent. This is concerning considering that throughout the series, only one major Black character has been written (though she’s appeared twice), which could be seen as a potential issue. However, given Cairo’s rich and renowned ancient history and mythology (who hasn’t read “Egyptology” at some point in their preteen years?), it seems fitting for the show to delve into this setting. And when they do create an Egyptian season, casting Rami Malek could be a good choice due to his unique aura.
