In “A Minecraft Movie,” it’s Jack Black who plays Steve, but it seems that Matt Berry, an actor and comedian, was initially chosen for the part, as reported by Puck.
In the film, the actor from What We Do in the Shadows is present, but instead of playing his usual role, he voices a character called Nitwit. Later, Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Marlene, strikes him with a vehicle, and subsequently, they go on a date together.
Berry apparently accepted a lesser part because of scheduling issues that arose following the actor’s strike in 2023.
The Minecraft Film is currently raking in massive earnings at the box office, amassing over $300 million during its opening weekend alone. Similar to other films directed by Jared Hess, reviews for this movie have been varied. At TopMob, our review of A Minecraft Movie awarded it a 7 out of 10.
With the massive success of a Minecraft Movie at the box office thus far, it’s not surprising that discussions have begun for a potential sequel, featuring a brand-new character. Yet, an official confirmation for a sequel is still pending.
The much-anticipated movie based on Minecraft is now playing in cinemas, and it will eventually become available on Blu-ray.
