I was excited when the first official “Shore” format was introduced in Canada, reminiscent of the global phenomenon. In 2010, a group of individuals attempted to create a “Lake Shore” series in Toronto with eight cast members identified by their ethnic backgrounds. An online trailer for this series sparked controversy and went viral, but unfortunately, networks chose not to air it, causing the project to be shelved.
Vanessa Case, Vice President of Content at Paramount+ and Pluto TV Canada, stated that Canadians have been captivated by this lively, surprising, and genuine format since ‘Jersey Shore’ premiered in 2009.
