A Minecraft Movie Sequel Could Happen With This Main Character, Director Says

Over the weekend, the long-awaited Minecraft film hit the big screen, raking in over $300 million globally – surpassing predictions and even outshining The Super Mario Bros. Movie in certain aspects. With Hollywood’s penchant for sequels, it seems that whispers about a possible Minecraft 2 have begun!

Director Jared Hess expressed to Deadline his enthusiasm for creating a sequel, stating it would be an absolute blast. He also pointed out that the universe of Minecraft offers a vast landscape ripe with opportunities for additional narratives.

He mentioned that there were numerous unexplored aspects they had hoped to delve into, but didn’t get the chance. He expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of a sequel, as discussions about it appear to be underway, which makes him extremely excited. It would be enjoyable to revisit the same world again. The audience seems to be really enjoying themselves. We hinted at it in the end credits, and the fans seem to be going crazy over it.

In a possible sequel, the storyline might center around the character Alex, who was hinted at being teased towards the end of the movie. It’s suggested that Alex could team up with the character Steve, played by Jack Black, in this proposed sequel, as mentioned by Hess.

In a recent statement, Hess praised Black as an “authentic artist par excellence.” He also characterized him as one of the “toughest and diligent” performers in the industry, and noted that he is both “extremely kind-hearted” and “full of compassion.

In a nutshell, Hess shared that he personally knew everyone on the team, which numbered in the hundreds. Furthermore, having him around seemed to inspire everyone; his genuine care for others and zest for life were evident, making an impact on every aspect of his work.

Additionally, Hess highly commended Jason Momoa for his role as Garrett in A Minecraft Movie. According to Hess, Momoa exudes an extraordinary charisma and is incredibly humorous. Speaking about their collaboration in A Minecraft Movie, Hess expressed that they envisioned a scenario where these characters were continually attempting to outdo each other with humor, leading the entire film. Remarkably, audiences seem to be finding it amusing as these two characters eventually form an epic romance.
