Black Bear’s representative division has secured Robert Schwentke, known for directing “Flightplan” and “RED”, for management. Over the course of his extensive career, Schwentke has navigated various projects ranging from independent films to franchise movies, as well as action and adventure productions.
The movie “The Captain” (his war drama) first appeared at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and received widespread praise. Subsequently, it garnered numerous awards, such as the FIPRESCI Prize at the Vilnius International Film Festival. Furthermore, it was nominated in five different categories for the 2018 German Film Awards.
Amongst his other directing projects, Schwentke has worked on films such as “Snake Eyes,” the third part of the “G.I. Joe” film series for Paramount Pictures; “Insurgent” and “Allegiant,” the second and third installments of the successful “Divergent” series produced by Lionsgate, earning a combined global box office revenue of over $475 million; and “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” featuring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, for Warner Bros. He has also directed films like “RED,” starring Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, and Morgan Freeman, which amassed a global gross of $200 million and was nominated for a Golden Globe in the best motion picture – musical or comedy category, as well as “Flightplan,” starring Jodie Foster and earning a worldwide revenue of $225 million. Currently, Schwentke is wrapping up post-production on the action-thriller “Control” for StudioCanal and The Picture Company, featuring Oscar winner Julianne Moore and James McAvoy.
Black Bear Productions is known for creating Academy Award-nominated films like “The Imitation Game” and “Sing Sing.” Upcoming projects feature director Guy Ritchie’s “Wife & Dog,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins; Daniel Roher’s “Tuner,” with Leo Woodall in the lead; and the upcoming comedy “Spa Weekend” directed by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore, featuring Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, Michelle Buteau, and Anna Faris. They cater to a diverse roster of clients, with Tim Fehlbaum, the director of “September 5,” being the latest addition.
