Movie Theaters Post Warnings Against Crazy ‘Minecraft Movie’ Screenings: ‘Screaming’ and ‘Taking Part in TikTok Trends Will Not Be Tolerated’

The buzz around “A Minecraft Movie” from Warner Bros. and Legendary is so intense among youthful cinema-goers that one Cineworld theater in Oxfordshire is advising its audience to stay calm or risk being ejected without a refund, as reported by BBC News. Clips of boisterous “Minecraft” movie audiences have spread like wildfire on social media, triggering a movement urging viewers to applaud, cheer, toss popcorn, and similar actions during key scenes in the film (such as Jack Black declaring “I am Steve” and shouting “chicken jockey!”).

At Cineworld, disruptive behavior like excessive noise (such as loud talking, applause, or shouting) that could disturb other viewers is strictly prohibited. If anyone is observed exhibiting such behavior, they’ll be asked to leave the screening and will not receive a refund for their ticket.

Many other cinemas across the country are also enforcing similar warnings. A representative from REEL cinema in England stated through People, “To provide an optimal movie-going experience for everyone, we’re enhancing our screen monitoring during performances. Any form of disruptive behavior, including participation in TikTok challenges before, during, or after a show, will not be allowed. Those causing disturbances will be asked to leave, and if necessary, the police will be contacted.

The local Glasgow newspaper, The Times, reported that a nearby Cineworld cinema issued an announcement stating they’d heard about online rumors suggesting disruptive behavior during screenings of “A Minecraft Movie.” They kindly requested all patrons to show consideration for others by refraining from making noise or using their phones while watching any film. Continued disregard for this request could lead to being asked to leave the theater.

Featuring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen, “A Minecraft Movie” is modeled after the widely acclaimed Mojang Studios video game with the same title. This cinematic adaptation was a smash hit for Warner Bros., earning $162 million in its domestic premiere and an astounding $313 million globally, making it the record-breaking opening for a video game movie ever.

As a movie enthusiast myself, I couldn’t help but share the excitement sweeping through Warner Bros. Studios following the staggering success of “A Minecraft Movie.” In a company-wide email, our fearless leaders, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, announced that it had secured the largest domestic opening weekend of 2025, surpassing even the July record, and marked Warner Bros.’ biggest opening weekend since as far back as 2023. In their own words, “This is a world-class achievement!” They attributed this triumph to our unwavering faith in the potency of our creative minds, our camaraderie, and the universal appeal of compelling storytelling. Simply put, when we dare to dream big and work together, magic happens!

“A Minecraft Movie” is now playing in theaters.
