Switch 2 Won’t Bring Back eShop Music

According to Nintendo, the digital store (eShop) on the Switch 2 will lack background music, similar to the original Switch, in order to maintain an uninterrupted user experience.

During an interview with Polygon, Kouichi Kawamoto (producer of Switch 2) mentioned that unlike in the past, the eShop now features numerous videos showcasing games. Previously, systems such as Wii and Wii U played background music while users browsed their respective eShops. However, to avoid disrupting this experience, there is no music present on the eShop for Switch 2.

Kawamoto stated his intention to ensure a seamless and swift experience when navigating the eShop for Switch 2, eliminating delays in the list and quickening page loading times. Consequently, the eShop will be devoid of any background music.

Additionally, he acknowledged that among all applications on the Wii platform, he frequently launched the Wii Shop Channel the most. Known for its engaging melody, this shopping channel has gained such popularity that fans have even made cover versions of its theme song in Nintendo Labo.

As a gamer, I’ve got some disappointing news for fellow Nintendo Labo enthusiasts like myself. It seems that the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit isn’t playable on the new Switch 2. The reason being, the updated Switch 2 tablet is larger than the original one, making it incompatible with the Toy-Con device from the VR Kit. Bummer, right? Let’s hope Nintendo finds a solution for us VR Labo fans!

Following the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct last week, a wealth of fresh information has been revealed. Nintendo has addressed the high price point of Mario Kart World, which stands at $80, and it seems that the cartridges for the Nintendo Switch 2 have retained the same unsavory taste as the original Switch’s carts, much to some gamers’ dismay. The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5.
