‘Mission: Impossible 8’ Trailer: Tom Cruise Jumps From a Fighter Jet and Dangles From an Upside-Down Plane in ‘Final Reckoning’

Tom Cruise returns with breathtaking, life-threatening feats in the latest preview for “Mission: Impossible – The Last Standoff.” Set to release in theaters on May 23rd.

It’s possible that we’ve reached the end of Tom Cruise playing IMF agent Ethan Hunt, as “The Final Reckoning” hints at a climactic conclusion to the “Mission: Impossible” franchise following eight films. In “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” set for release at the end of 2023 (originally marketed as Part Two of “Final Reckoning”), Ethan is working tirelessly to prevent a destructive artificial intelligence called The Entity from causing global chaos and falling into dangerous hands.

Apart from Cruise, the cast also features Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Ving Rhames as Luther Strickell, Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, Hayley Atwell as Grace, Esai Morales as the antagonist Gabriel, Shea Wigham as Jasper Briggs, Greg Tarzan Davis as Degas, and Pom Klementieff as the assassin Paris. Joining the “Mission: Impossible” series for the first time are actors such as Hannah Waddingham from “Ted Lasso”, Nick Offerman, Lucy Tulugarjuk, Katy O’Brian, Tramell Tillman, and Stephen Oyoung.

In “The Final Reckoning,” Cruise is giving us a sneak peek at the thrilling stunts we’ll see, featuring a submersible underwater chase and a heart-stopping moment where he hangs from an airplane.

When you lean out from an airplane flying at around 120-130 miles per hour, you’re not receiving oxygen,” Cruise explained in an interview with Empire. “Therefore, I had to learn new breathing techniques. There were instances when I would actually faint; I found it challenging to regain consciousness and return to the cockpit.
