Eager Switch 2 fan is already waiting in line two months before launch

The new Nintendo Switch 2 gaming system won’t be available until June 5th, but a dedicated fan has been camping out ahead of time, devising an intricate strategy to secure his place in line.

After numerous whispers and anticipation, the long-awaited Switch 2 was unveiled in January 2025, offering fans a peek at the latest hardware upgrades. This was followed by a dedicated Nintendo Direct broadcast on April 2, which showcased several launch titles and solidified the official release date.

Despite the global release being several months off, with U.S. pre-orders yet to go live following delays due to tariff uncertainties, an enthusiastic fan is already making every effort to secure their spot at the front of the line.

YouTuber is already camping out to get Switch 2 first

On April 5th, YouTuber ChickenDog announced his plan to stay outside a Nintendo store for approximately two months. This may seem unusual, but he’s committed to publishing daily videos chronicling his experience.

In the initial video, he pledged to stay outside from early morning till closing time, intending to be the very first in line and rush through the door to purchase one.

Even though it’s a remarkable accomplishment, he won’t be spending his nights outside the store during these days, I suppose.

In the next video, he clarified that he’s arranged both a hotel and an Airbnb for his overnight stays, ensuring his safety. Interestingly, these will also serve as his editing spaces for the vlogs.

Additionally, he’s not working on this task solo; instead, he’s gathered a team of friends who will ensure that the spot is reserved whenever he needs to return for rest or work.

Even though there’s little competition for him currently, since the Switch 2 is not expected until several months later, he’ll need to put in more effort to maintain his position near the top as the release date approaches.

Should ChickenDog’s plan succeed, he’d be one of the initial users to experience the latest console and its extensive collection of release games, which features Mario Kart World too.
