Russell Brand Outtakes from 2011 Film ‘Arthur’ Reportedly Offered by Warner Bros. as Part of Civil Sexual Assault Case in New York

According to reports from The Times, Russell Brand could be under investigation for alleged rape and sexual assault not only in the U.K., but also potentially in the United States as well.

A major UK newspaper states that Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to share previously unseen footage from the comedian’s work on the 2011 romantic movie “Arthur” as potential proof regarding a claim of sexual misconduct happening during filming.

In 2023, both Brand and Warner Bros. found themselves defendants in a lawsuit filed by ‘Jane Doe’, an extra on the movie, who alleged that the comedian behaved inappropriately by exposing himself to cast members and subsequently sexually assaulted her in a restroom.

In 2023, Brand and Warner Bros. were named as defendants by ‘Jane Doe’, an extra from their film, who claimed that the comedian engaged in inappropriate behavior like exposing himself to the cast members and further sexually assaulted her in a bathroom.

Both Brand and Warner Bros. initially refuted the accusations, however, reports now suggest that Warner Bros. Discovery is willing to share previously unseen “Arthur” footage. Patrick Lamparello, a lawyer for the company, informed the New York Supreme Court last week that there exists approximately eight hours of outtake footage from the show. The Times reported this detail. EbMaster has attempted to contact Warner Bros. Discovery for confirmation.

At a court hearing in New York City, I found myself eagerly following the proceedings involving Brand, as his legal team attempted to postpone the case due to potential overlap with a criminal case in the U.K. However, Judge Shlomo Hagler decided against granting this request.

Mark Cuccaro, representing the brand, stated that his client had a “justified assumption that they could face criminal charges in the U.S., as accusations similar to those of criminal sexual misconduct, which allegedly took place in the U.S., have been made against them – accusations that this civil plaintiff and others have made through media outlets, but which are false.

Last week, London’s police department announced that Brand is facing charges including rape, indecent assault, oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 2. However, Brand maintains his innocence regarding these accusations.
