The Shocking Twist in 1923 Finale That Reveals 1944’s Dark Future!

Following two seasons’ worth of train journeys and harsh winters, the year 1923 has concluded. Fear not, as 1944 approaches, it will carry on the Dutton family legacy (be advised, this contains spoilers!).

due to being stranded in freezing wilderness, she suffered from frostbite severely, and later passed away during childbirth.

In Episode 6, Jack was sadly taken from us, which led Liz to hastily gather her belongings and retreat back to urban living following a distressing shootout at the Dutton ranch.

Saying farewell to Jacob, Cara, Spencer, and the rest will undeniably be challenging, but luckily for us, Taylor Sheridan is already working on another spinoff. The finale of 1923 gave us a promising sneak peek into what this new series might entail.

1944 should focus on John Dutton II

In the final episode of 1923, Alex tragically passes away following the birth of her premature son. Just before she dies, she expresses her desire to name the child John, honoring Spencer’s brother. (Lastly, one of the long-standing Dutton family enigmas is finally laid to rest!)

As a dedicated fan, I must admit there were moments of worry when it seemed the baby might not survive. Yet, in the end, the scene unfolded with him thriving, all thanks to Cara’s tender care. Rest assured, this little one is destined for great things, growing up to follow in John Dutton III’s footsteps, a role brilliantly played by none other than Kevin Costner himself.

In the concluding scenes, it’s Elsa Dutton who recounts the subsequent years after Alex’s passing, sharing with us the events that unfolded thereafter.

She mentions that Spencer did not get remarried. Instead, he found solace as a widower and had another child. However, he chose not to wed again, and eventually, the woman disappeared from his life.

Spencer found that [Alex’s] memory never wavered or grew hazy. Not a single moment of Alexandra Dutton, who was born on April Fool’s Day, 1901, in Oxfordshire, England, and passed away on March 29, 1924, ever slipped from his mind.

In his later years, when memory loss claimed him, he would just shut his eyes and weave fresh dreams instead. Forty-five years on, my younger sibling found companionship with another.

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to see how 1944 continues unfolding the Dutton family saga, focusing primarily on their ranch. It seems that Elsa has meticulously planned the narrative trajectory for the upcoming generations. Spencer, our protagonist, will take charge of the ranch and find himself in a heartwarming romance with a widow. This relationship is likely to bear fruit, resulting in another addition to the Dutton family. Notably, we’ll witness the nurturing of John II, who will grow under Spencer’s guidance.

Based on the fact that John Dutton in Yellowstone series doesn’t talk about an uncle throughout its run from 2024, it seems reasonable to infer that his brother from John II likely passes away early in the storyline.

Adding the era of World War II to the mix could result in one of the most captivating periods in Dutton history so far.
