1923 Season 2’s closing act signifies a permanent farewell to the Dutton family’s current chapter, leaving Yellowstone viewers in a state of perplexity regarding the exact number of episodes in the final installment.
In the year 1923, there are several loose ends that remain unresolved: The Dutton family must outwit Donald Whitfield, the reunion of Spencer and Alex is long overdue, and it’s crucial for either Alex or Liz to ensure a safe delivery for their baby.
A great deal is riding on this, and Taylor Sheridan’s prequel series has drawn attention, with fans expressing concerns over its explicit storylines and prolonged portrayal of Spencer’s homecoming.
It seems there’s a new twist to the situation. Originally, viewers believed that this season would consist of eight episodes, just like the previous one. However, it now appears that might not hold true anymore.
1923 Season 2 will end with Episode 7
In simple terms, the last episode of 1923 Season 2 airs on April 6th (Sunday), so there will be just 7 episodes in the entire season 2 of this Western series.
Instead of the expected number of episodes, fans will receive one episode fewer than initially thought. However, don’t worry! Episode 7 has been expanded into a double-length episode. Essentially, this means you’ll be getting two episodes for the price of one, ensuring that viewers won’t feel shortchanged.
In the episode titled ‘A Dream and A Memory’, Jacob and his team anxiously wait for Spencer’s arrival at the train station. Meanwhile, Teonna encounters a significant event. Lastly, Alexandra ventures out despite the chilly weather.
For now, details about a potential third season of “1923” remain undisclosed; however, certain actors express hope that there may be further narrative threads to explore within this particular generation.
According to Brandon Sklenar’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he hasn’t received confirmation about whether the series will end after season two, but he had a clear idea of the show’s direction even before filming began for season one.
The tale doesn’t end here, it may take a different path, and I can’t predict which. However, there’s undeniably more of the Dutton saga left to unfold.
Regardless of the specifics, it’s clear that Sheridan is now working on a new prequel series titled ‘1944’. More likely than not, this could also function as a spiritual successor to ‘1923’, offering insights into the later lives or fates of some treasured characters from that period.
