The enjoyable 1.010 update includes a mix of elements designed to appeal to various types of players, from fashion enthusiasts to speed-running aficionados, encouraging everyone to dive back into the game.
In the game Wilds of TU 1, every new element added has a purpose, but some modifications and enhancements are more thrilling than others. With significant PC performance improvements, recurring beasts, and a fresh gathering center, there’s plenty to keep players captivated in Monster Hunter Wilds. This update serves two purposes: it reveals aspects of what the future development of Wilds might entail, at least until the upcoming game-changing expansion. With Title Update 1 for Wilds, its future looks more promising than ever.
10. Alma Gets A New Look
New Outfits And Glasses Are The First Of Many For Wilds’ Fan-Favorite Handler
In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, a popular and customizable cosmetic feature known as character customization, is being introduced. Given the extensive range of outfits for a character in World that was less favorably received, it’s no surprise that Alma’s outfit history dates back quite early. Players will receive her first outfit, which she wore during the cliffs section of the LR story, at no cost. Additionally, there will be an independently purchasable costume inspired by World’s unnamed handler, which might stir up unpleasant memories for some players.
In addition, Capcom is preparing for a greater variety of cosmetic options for game characters, specifically customization for Alma’s glasses. Initially, her spectacles may get a sleeker, contemporary update. It’s not surprising to see character customization in “Wilds,” but given Alma’s positive response, it seems likely that Capcom will prioritize releasing new outfits for Alma over other characters.

As someone who has spent time customizing my collection of tents, the current options have felt somewhat restricted compared to the larger picture. Hopefully, there will be a bigger change later, but for now, these fresh additions are certainly eye-catching.
Following the unveiling of Title Update 1, the eye-catching Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 is now up for grabs. This pack boasts an eye-popping, interactive beanbag chair, a striking addition compared to the more subdued items from Wilds‘ initial launch. For those unwilling to invest in a cosmetic pack, complimentary tent decorations, such as a cherry blossom tree, will be handed out with Wilds’ inaugural festival event, the Blossomdance, scheduled for release on April 22nd.
8. The Story Continues With New Quests
Zoh Shia Has More To Say
Including Zoh Shia (located deeper in the series) ensures that the tale of Wilds carries on. Although some viewers were taken aback by the scarcity of narrative development in Wilds, I think the extra investment has been beneficial for both the series and the prospective continuation of the franchise.
The bar for Monster Hunter stories has been significantly raised with this new addition, a development that could significantly influence future narratives. A significant portion of this pressure lies on the well-crafted characters of Wilds, but the LR story managed to keep me hooked with its unexpected turns. The most captivating aspect was undoubtedly Zoh Shia, a civilization-ending menace that delivered the best cutscene I’ve ever witnessed in a Monster Hunter game. Despite the mystery surrounding Zoh Shia, I eagerly anticipate learning more about how it re-emerges.
7. Using Facilities Is Smoother With Better Dialogue Reaction Times
Speeding Up The Dirty Work
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the interaction speed with Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in Monster Hunter. Now, there’s less of a delay between initiating a conversation and actually being able to access their facilities. This means smoother transitions when moving between NPCs who manage crucial aspects of the game, like the quest board, smithy, shops, and tent management. With many of these facilities scattered among various NPCs, this dance of back and forth is common, especially in the Wilds. So, any streamlining to make this process more efficient is a welcome change.
While it might seem minor at first glance, enhancing the smoothness of gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds outside of hunts is consistently valued. Saving mere seconds may not appear significant initially, but accumulate those seconds over numerous hours spent gaming, and the impact becomes evident. Wilds excelled in its NPC interactions, yet there are moments when I’d prefer to embark on a quest, purchase a trap, or craft a weapon without unnecessary hurdles.
6. Camera Changes Make Some Hunts Less Frustrating
Finally, Gore Magala Will Be Properly Huntable
In the Monster Hunter Wilds game, Gore Magala is a much-loved hunt for many players, but unfortunately, it can also cause unwanted difficulties. This might be because Gore Magala is specifically positioned within the Iceshard Cliffs, an area that’s filled with tight spaces, making it somewhat frustrating due to the game cameras often struggling to follow the fast-paced action. To address this issue, Capcom has made adjustments to the camera system, expanding the distance between it and certain monsters.
The update seems to target Gore Magala specifically, but it’s likely that other oversized monsters will also be affected. No matter how extensive the modifications, the battle with Gore Magala should definitely become less chaotic due to the frequent camera problems it causes. Additionally, this alteration suggests that Capcom is paying attention to player feedback, as such issues might not always be immediately noticeable.
5. The Arena Opens
Scores To Beat, Cosmetics To Earn
Exciting news for speedrunners and performance players: The Wilds will now feature an arena! Arena quests are unique hunts where players engage in battles with monsters within a confined, instanced arena equipped with pre-selected gear sets. Scores are awarded based on the time taken to defeat the monster, and the Grand Hub even includes a public leaderboard for comparison. The arena is a classic Monster Hunter element that offers a clear goal to aim for.
It seems Capcom is going all-out for the version of the arena in Wilds, offering cosmetic prizes based on player performance. Particularly noteworthy is the Rey Day arena quest that grants a stylish pendant themed around the event to those who achieve a satisfactory score. Additionally, challenge quests are being introduced, resembling arena quests in terms of gear restrictions and time limits, but with the difference that they will only be accessible for a limited period. With both arena and challenge quests now available, players of all skill levels will find something to aim for.
4. Performance Fixes For Steam
The Start Of A Long Road For Wilds
It’s great to see new monsters and cosmetics, but without addressing the performance issues in Wilds, Title Update 1 wouldn’t feel fully complete. Luckily, this update addresses a VRAM usage issue specifically for Steam users, which should significantly enhance the game’s performance.
On the day Wilds was initially launched, PC gamers endured a rather trying experience due to the game’s performance and optimization problems. I’m not entirely convinced that this patch will solve all performance issues, but it should certainly enable more players to dive into the fun. The long-term effects of this change are still uncertain, but making Wilds accessible to more fans might just be the most significant improvement made yet.
3. The Grand Hub Gives Multiplayer A New Home
The Gathering Hub Returns In Wilds
One of the most thrilling updates in Monster Hunter Wilds is the return of the classic Grand Hub, a social space where players can meet and interact, much like a community center in older Monster Hunter games. While the game’s open world already allows for this interaction during hunts, the traditional gathering hub remains a cherished series staple that I’m glad has been included.
Fortunately, despite serving less of its original purpose, Capcom has put significant effort into the design of the Grand Hub. It is brimming with minigames, shared cutscene performances, fishing spots, an arena leaderboard, and a dining area where hunters can enjoy meals together. Additionally, it’s vast and aesthetically pleasing enough that the large 100-player lobby sizes in Wilds become more understandable. Initially, I had modest expectations for this absent feature due to its absence at release, but Capcom has created one of the best gathering hubs in the series.
2. Mizutsune Splashes Into Wilds
The Elusive Monster Is Here To Stay
Mizutsune may not have been gone for long, considering it was part of the roster at the start of Rise, but there’s a clear explanation for why it continues to reappear. This iconic leviathan stands out due to one of the most unique move sets in the entire series, as it scatters bubbles across the battlefield with swift, elusive dance-like motions. The distinctive kimono armor it dons, a beautiful blend of light purple and pink, is another memorable design that originated from its creation in Monster Hunter Generations.
As a dedicated Monster Hunter fan, I can’t help but get pumped about the refreshed battle with Mizutsune. Even seasoned players like myself have something new to anticipate in this classic fight. It seems that Wilds is all about updating time-honored battles for the latest titles, as evident by Rathalos’ initial appearance in its guardian form. With Mizutsune only recently absent, I can hardly wait to dive back in and uncover what’s changed – and probably take a few hits from those bubble beams along the way!

In summary, the thrilling highlight of the Monster Hunter Wilds 1.010 update is the reappearance of Zoh Shia, the final boss in the game. It’s been a month since I last hunted Zoh Shia, marking the conclusion of Wilds’ storyline. Until now, there was no option to hunt Zoh Shia again. The lack of a rematch and the absence of armor or weapons crafted from its materials have made it feel like a fading memory. However, with the release of Title Update 1, players will be able to hunt Zoh Shia once they reach Hunter Rank 50 and embark on its associated story quest.
Since Zoh Shia stands out as an exceptional monster in the storyline of Wilds, figuring out how it comes back is worth exploring for those who appreciated its unique character. For players who often skip cutscenes, the high-resolution (HR) version of Zoh Shia will offer a fresh target to hunt, enhancing the variety of zone apexes and Arkveld. In my personal opinion, Zoh Shia was one of the most enjoyable final bosses in my limited gaming experience, and I’m eagerly awaiting the opportunity to test this claim through multiple hunts to make up for missed encounters.
In essence, Wilds’ Title Update 1 delivers an astounding amount of content to the game, making it possible that Wilds could become one of the most sustained post-game experiences for a base game title if Capcom maintains this pace. As per the current plan, there’s plenty more in store for Wilds, with the highly anticipated return of Lagiacrus set for Title Update 2. For Monster Hunter Wilds, the future certainly looks promising.
