Reports indicate that Disney has temporarily paused their plans for a live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated success “Tangled.
The story adapting the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Rapunzel” was undergoing active production, with Michael Gracey, director of “The Greatest Showman,” set to take charge as director. “Thor: Love and Thunder” scriptwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson had been enlisted for script-writing duties.
The move follows the domestic box office earnings of Disney’s “Snow White,” currently standing at approximately $69 million.
It remains uncertain if we can bring back the live-action adaptation at any point down the line.
During its release in 2010-2011, the animated film “Tangled” grossed approximately $600 million globally, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. It received a favorable response from both audiences and critics, as indicated by its 89% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
