New Soulslike ‘The Duskbloods’ by FromSoftware: Release Window & Platforms Revealed

SoftBank Corporation, known for creating the Souls-inspired series, unveiled a fresh addition titled “The Duskbloods.” This upcoming title seems to be a fusion of elements from “Bloodborne” and “Elden Ring,” offering an adventure that promises a unique blend of those beloved gaming experiences.

Despite the anticipation among Soulsborne series enthusiasts for additional Bloodborne installments or a genuine Elden Ring sequel, FromSoftware unveiled The Duskbloods – a game that could serve as a spiritual successor to both titles. On April 2, 2025, during the Nintendo Direct presentation centered around the Nintendo Switch 2, the first trailer for this game was released, showcasing a hauntingly recognizable dark world and motifs.

In The Duskbloods game, the action seems reminiscent of classic Soulslike games, but the main character exhibits unique traits such as wielding firearms and even biting enemies, giving off a vampire-like vibe at times. Additionally, it hints at multiplayer options, showcasing one character summoning another. Yet, this could also be an AI companion. Here’s what we currently know about The Duskbloods.

Does The Duskborns have a release date?

No. However, the trailer revealed that the game will be released sometime in 2026.

Trailer

During the April 2025 Nintendo Direct presentation, we got our first glimpse at the upcoming game’s trailer, which closely resembles the initial Bloodborne trailer and follows the pattern common to FromSoftware trailers by not revealing too many details about the game.

What platforms will it be on?

At the conclusion of the trailer, it was indicated that “The Duskbloods” will be exclusively released on the Nintendo Switch 2. This implies that you won’t find this game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or even the initial version of the Nintendo Switch.

Story and setting

Similar to Bloodborne, The Dusk Bloods shares its setting with an era inspired by Victorian England, but this time, London serves as the muse instead of Edinburgh. A tower reminiscent of Big Ben can be seen towering in the game’s trailer, yet since the story takes place in a fantasy realm, it is merely loosely based on the iconic landmark.

The trailer reveals various characters and gameplay styles, with some appearing to be leaders or non-player characters, but they seem more like character classes. This suggests that players will have the freedom to choose their character’s build from the beginning. Characters such as eastern warriors, sword-wielders, gun-users, and a variety of other class types were showcased in the trailer.

The conversation hinted at themes of blood and the moon, causing Bloodborne gamers to speculate that The Dusk Bloods might be set within the Bloodborne universe. These allusions, along with the game’s title, could also suggest connections to the Vilebloods, a group from Bloodborne.

Although Bloodborne is exclusive to Sony systems and The Dusk Bloods might only be available on Nintendo platforms, it seems that The Dusk Bloods is more likely to be a game inspired by Bloodborne rather than a direct sequel or prequel. This isn’t unlike the situation with Dark Souls, which shares similarities with Demon’s Souls but is not technically a sequel because they were published by different companies.
