Dracula Sequel ‘Abraham’s Boys’ Acquired by RLJE and Shudder; Joe Hill Adaptation to Debut at Overlook

It’s been announced that the global rights to Natasha Kermani’s Dracula follow-up, titled “Abraham’s Boys,” have been bought by RLJE Films and Shudder. This movie is an adaptation of Joe Hill’s 2007 short story and will make its debut at the Overlook Film Festival, according to EbMaster‘s exclusive report.

The storyline revolves around Max and Rudy Van Helsing, who find themselves constrained by their overbearing father, Abraham. As they delve into Abraham’s past involving Dracula, Max and Rudy’s lives are turned upside down as they unearth the history and lineage they never knew was theirs. The ensemble features Titus Welliver (“Bosch”), Jocelin Donahue (“The House of the Devil”), Judah Mackey (“The Young And The Restless”), Aurora Perrineau (“Westworld”) and Brady Hepner (“The Black Phone”).

We’re thrilled to introduce ‘Abraham’s Boys’ to viewers and extend the Dracula saga with a modern and engaging take. According to RLJE Films’ Chief Acquisitions Officer Mark Ward, director Natasha Kermani has skillfully crafted a chilling, character-focused horror tale that delves into Van Helsing’s history, whether his offspring are prepared for this revelation or not.

Regarding the acquisition, Kermani expressed his delight in a statement: “It was a pleasure to adapt Joe Hill’s dark, gothic tale for the screen, filmed on location in California, with an exceptional Los Angeles cast and crew. I’m thrilled to now be able to distribute the film globally, working alongside my colleagues at RLJE Films and Shudder.

The series ‘Abraham’s Boys’ is created by Tim Wu and James Howard Herron from Illium Pictures, as well as James Harris and Leonora Darby from Tea Shop Productions. The agreement was finalized by Mark Ward and Samuel Zimmerman on behalf of RLJE Films and Shudder, with James Harris representing Tea Shop Productions.
