As a dedicated film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The gripping prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” is set to return for another season on the streaming platform, Paramount+, in collaboration with Showtime. Stay tuned for more chilling episodes!
The news broke around a month after the initial season of the show ended on February 14th. Originally debuting in December 2024, this series is a prequel and tells the story of Dexter Morgan’s origins, with Patrick Gibson portraying the younger version of the renowned serial killer. Michael C. Hall, who originally played Dexter on Showtime’s “Dexter,” voices the inner thoughts of the young Dexter.
In addition to Gibson and Hall, the ensemble features Molly Brown, Christina Milian, Christian Slater, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, as well as a distinguished guest star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Patrick Dempsey.

Besides Gibson and Hall, the cast boasts Molly Brown, Christina Milian, Christian Slater, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, with Sarah Michelle Gellar as a special guest star, and Patrick Dempsey completing the lineup.
The official description of the show states:
When his violent instincts become too strong to suppress, Dexter needs to find a way to harness his inner evil. With the aid of his father, Harry (Slater), he develops a Code that allows him to hunt and eliminate individuals who warrant elimination from society without attracting law enforcement’s attention. This proves to be a difficult task for Dexter as he starts his forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
In the role of showrunner and executive producer once again for “Original Sin,” steps Clyde Phillips, who was also in these positions on “Dexter.” Alongside him, Hall holds an executive producer position, as do Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Michael Lehmann, known for directing “Heathers,” assumes the roles of director and executive producer. Robert Lloyd Lewis serves as a producer on this series. The production companies responsible are Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Gary Levine and Urooj Sharif take charge for Showtime Studios, with Tara Power overseeing production. This series is produced by both Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling distribution outside of markets on Paramount+.
Significant effort is being put into growing the “Dexter” universe, as Showtime previously broadcasted the sequel series “Dexter: New Blood.” Currently, they are producing a continuation titled “Dexter: Resurrection,” with Michael C. Hall reprising his leading role. This new series also features Uma Thurman, David Zayas, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, alongside James Remar and Peter Dinklage.
