YouTube Premium users are now able to provide up to 10 commercial-free video clips monthly to non-subscribers, allowing their companions a glimpse into the seamless viewing they enjoy.
AndroidPolice initially reported this function, which enables YouTube Premium users to share almost any video without ads to their friends. However, it’s important to note that this feature is only accessible when both parties are in locations where YouTube Premium is available. Excluded content types are music videos, YouTube Originals, Shorts, Livestreams, and Movies & Shows.
For premium subscribers, sharing videos without ads is quite straightforward. When you’re on a video’s viewing page, you’ll find the ‘Share’ button. Clicking on it will reveal an option labeled “Share ad-free.” You can either select an app to share the link or simply copy it. Once shared, those who receive the link can watch the video up to 10 times without any advertisements interrupting their viewing experience.
It’s worth noting that when someone shares a link for 10 ad-free views, these views are pooled among all recipients. Yet, every shared video is counted towards the sender’s personal monthly total of 10 ad-free shares.
For a Premium user, if they unintentionally share a link with someone who’s already a Premium member, this action will not deduct from their monthly sharing limit.
At present, this particular feature is being tested only among a select group of YouTube Premium subscribers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, and the UK. To verify if it’s accessible in your region, simply tap the Share button on compatible videos, then look for the “Share ad-free” option.
YouTube intends to attract more free users to become Premium members by offering them an ad-free viewing experience.
This undertaking aligns with our wider approach to improve Premium services. Additionally, the system is experimenting with suggesting videos directly in the playback queue for Premium account holders.
This project falls under our larger plan to upgrade Premium benefits. Moreover, the platform is exploring the idea of providing video recommendations within the playback queue specifically for Premium users.
At present, YouTube hasn’t given a definite answer about whether or when they will release the ad-free sharing option worldwide, however, it’s evident that they are focused on enhancing the benefits for their Premium members.
