In this episode, West and Jesse Solomon, who are always referred to by both names, showed no signs of privacy around each other. At the halfway point of their shipwreck-themed party, they were spotted relieving themselves together at the edge of the lawn, which was already an unusual sight. To add to the strangeness, they mentioned that Jesse was about to finish his second bottle of Hamptons Water, a rosé brand I wouldn’t recommend to someone who stole my chicken fingers even in a fit of rage. As they were relieving themselves, they were also engaged in conversation. There is nothing more off-putting than someone trying to chat while you’re using the restroom, and I have no problem with public urination. However, they started passing the unopened bottle back and forth, which might have led to them seeing each other’s streams and potentially crossing them, a situation that, as you may recall, was disastrous for the Ghostbusters.
he goes upstairs, uses the bathroom, checks his emails, opens a bag of chips, gazes at himself in the mirror for some time, looks at his stock market, sends some amusing memes to his mom from Instagram, trims his toenails, checks the security cameras installed around his house in Charleston to monitor the bees, and then joins Kyle for their conversation. The audacity!
Initially, Kyle communicates to Craig that he felt displeased not with the business proposition itself, but with the manner in which it was presented. Craig responds by stating that he had informed Kyle and doesn’t consider himself at fault. However, Kyle’s accusation of dishonesty during their public exchange on Watch What Happens Live has upset him. In other words, while it wasn’t in front of the entire world, it was visible to the Bravosphere audience. And the Bravosphere is well-aware that Craig has been less than truthful in the past, as evidenced by the storyline from the recently concluded season. For instance, when Craig claims to have removed Loverboy from all his stores, one might question which specific stores he’s referring to, given that Loverboy was a restaurant item and not a store product, and it’s doubtful that there are “pillow” stores where Loverboy should be found.
The interaction concludes with Kyle expressing regret for labeling Craig a liar and Craig offering an apology for causing Kyle such pain. They then embrace, signifying their reconciliation. Kyle acknowledges that he needs to improve his responses to situations and handle his emotions more effectively. If only we could witness Kyle’s composed, logical side when interacting with the ladies in his life rather than the fellas, that would indeed be ideal.
Regarding the dynamic between Paige and Craig, it’s intriguing to witness their split unfold on “Summer House” rather than “Southern Charm”. It seems Craig was taken aback when Paige ended their relationship, which is not as evident in their previous show. During a conversation with Ciara, while lying on the same bed covered in paint splatters (I nearly fainted seeing her there), they hint at Craig’s discomfort with Paige’s success and potential jealousy lurking beneath the surface. Indeed, this situation is becoming clearer by the day.
Initially, let’s move on to Jesse Solomon, who seems to require some assistance from that mischievous young man, perhaps asking for a fried chicken finger and a sip of Hamptons Water, given the amount of topics at hand. Firstly, he initiates an attempt to reconcile Ciara and West, urging Ciara to offer West a hug. However, she refuses and departs. In a later conversation on their isolated island, Jesse inquires about what West can do to regain Ciara’s favor. Essentially, she indicates that it is unattainable. “If we are to pretend he didn’t manipulate me throughout the entire previous summer,” she says, “I’m sorry, but you both are out of your minds,” she asserts. Naturally, Jesse shares this with West, and he isn’t pleased by her words.
After the party concludes, West finds himself standing solo outside since he prefers not to join the entire crowd due to the strained dynamics with Ciara. In typical fashion, emotional anchor Amanda steps outside to inquire about West’s troubles, and it’s evident that he’s distressed over Ciara persistently portraying him negatively. I find myself sympathizing with both parties here. As Amanda rightly suggests, Ciara is hurting, and this is her method of coping, while West, as the one responsible for the hurt, should give her space to heal.
Despite my reservations, I concur with West’s assertion that their relationship was genuine last summer. They are in an unusual predicament where they must maintain friendship, proximity, and closeness with each other’s friends. This means, as West points out, Ciara continues to express negative feelings about him to her friends. While I acknowledge West may have ended things poorly, I believe his claim that he didn’t exploit her for the entire summer is inaccurate. Here’s hoping West can channel some of his pain and anger into greater understanding and compassion for Ciara and their broken relationship’s aftermath.
As a movie enthusiast, it’s clear that West is going to face more complications with Ciara, as it appears they’re growing closer with Jesse Solomon. During their recent conversation, Ciara admitted she wasn’t fond of West initially but changed her mind. Jesse seems to have regrets about not pursuing her, questioning why he didn’t. He explains that his friend staked a claim on her, a brotherly bond over personal feelings – something I wholeheartedly respect. Now, when Amanda inquires if he’d consider dating Ciara, he responds, “I’m a heterosexual man. Yes.” Well, as someone who appreciates the allure of strong, witty, amazing, and captivating women, even if I’m homosexual, I’d still be smitten by Ciara!
As a movie critic, I must confess, the dynamic between Jesse and Ciara transcended the ordinary during their backyard escapade. Admittedly, Jesse was quite tipsy at the party, but when he danced provocatively with Ciara in those snug, revealing boxer briefs, it veered dangerously past the boundaries of friendship.
The incident didn’t go unnoticed; it sparked conversations among Amanda, Craig, Paige, Kyle, Gabby, Lil, even the nerdy Carl who tagged along, the giant in a captain costume, and the group that transformed the backyard into a pirate ship. However, our resident philosophical partygoer, Imrul, was too preoccupied with his tale of meeting a girl named Polly at Burning Man to join the chorus of whispers about Jesse’s antics, which left me wishing for a Molly encounter for him as an amusing twist.
It appears that many people believe there’s a hint of romantic tension between Ciara and Jesse, but she prefers to spend her time munching on McDonald’s with her friends in bed rather than joining Jesse at the club. Now, I can appreciate a cozy meal in your sleeping quarters, but if you’re opting for delivery, why not try Domino’s? McDonald’s isn’t designed for transportation – it’s just not appetizing. This season is brought to you by Uber Eats. They could certainly provide a more delicious option.
After the club’s pulsating rhythm subsides, a new scene unfolds. Imrul, our night owl, brings in two intriguing women, whom I presume are Polly and Molly, though their identities remain veiled due to unfilmed agreements. The camera in his room is concealed under a towel, adding an air of mystery.
I find myself torn in this situation. On one hand, I relish the raw portrayal of a bold character, as it’s long overdue and resonates with me personally – representation does matter significantly. Yet, Imrul’s antics are starting to grate on my nerves a bit.
If a person wants to secretly film one woman who doesn’t wish to give consent and hide the camera with a towel, it could have been her choice. But if this behavior occurs repeatedly, it suggests that the individual might be encouraging women not to sign release forms and covering up cameras when they are around. This conduct appears to contradict the principles of participating in a reality show. If you choose to be on the show, you must accept whatever comes with it, including your private moments being filmed both inside and outside the bedroom. If some women prefer to keep their faces off television and this hinders his romantic pursuits, so be it. This is the cost of fame.
If Imrul isn’t interested in that, he’s free to return and socialize with the women wherever they reside. However, here’s the catch. Imrul seems to be boasting about his romantic escapades, wanting us to know he’s quite active. West and Gabby have shared their experiences, but that doesn’t seem to satisfy Imrul. He wants us to be aware that it’s not a one-time thing, but an ongoing affair. While this could add an interesting layer to his personality, so far, he’s only emphasizing his sexual prowess. That’s great and all, but we’d appreciate more depth from him. Maybe if he has other talents, like magic, he could impress Lil, who aspires to be Carl’s girlfriend. As Ciara hints in the mid-season teaser, constant boasting might become tiresome at some point.
Essentially, Imrul returns with two women, and Jesse Solomon decides to check the situation out. He enters the room and stays for approximately 37 minutes, according to the narration. In his account of events, he enters the room, and the girls invite him to join them in bed. He complies, positioning himself so that his feet face the women’s heads. Imrul instructs one of them to suck his toe, which she does despite his feet likely being quite unappealing, considering they might be as smelly as Kyle’s clothes after a night of partying, spent partly inside an inflatable shark costume. Following this unusual encounter, Jesse retreats to his own bed.
The following day, he shares the entire incident with everyone, believing there’s no issue with it. He explains that he declined the offer for a foursome since spending time with Lexi is more appealing. (By the way, if Imrul had hooked up with another guy in the house, people would probably forgive him.) However, Nelly, Lexi might not feel the same way. As a man (and a gay one at that), I don’t think Jesse did anything wrong. He merely experienced a toe being sucked as a joke. It was just a light-hearted prank. He entered the room to see what was happening. Jesse thrives on being in the spotlight and being part of the group, which makes him a standout on this show. In fact, he had the chance to fully participate, but instead, chose to leave the room voluntarily because he opted for Lexi over being promiscuous.
It’s hard to find a woman I know who would back what I just expressed. Jesse seems to be in trouble. Lexi has openly acknowledged her tendencies towards jealousy and possessiveness. If Jesse wished to remain with Lexi, he ought to have avoided that room, that bed, and that girl entirely, even if it was just his toe involved – a toe so unappealing that not even Quentin Tarantino, known for his fondness of feet, would approach it. However, if I were in Lexi’s shoes, I’d be more upset about dancing with Ciara in Jesse’s boxers than this toe-sucking incident, except that the editors omitted the part where he said, “And now I’m aroused,” suggesting there might have been additional actions taking place.
Jesse, in addition to his troubles with Lexi, further complicates the situation by informing everyone about it. This action suggests that he believes his actions were blameless, yet he’s unwittingly setting himself up for a confrontation that could potentially end his ability to stand next to West while urinating or opening wine again, as Lexi might react so severely that she would ensure such an occasion never happens again.
