Josh Peck and Drake Bell are set to appear together in public for the first time since the 2024 documentary titled “Hush on Stage: The Shadows Behind Children’s Television.
In an imminent installment of Peck’s DearMedia podcast titled “Good Guys,” the ex-“Drake & Josh” teammates, Peck and Ben Soffer, reminisce about their shared journey as young celebrities on Nickelodeon, discussing events following their time there.
In an exclusive preview of the upcoming episode given to People magazine, Soffer and producer Olivia Meade discuss the powerful impact of watching “Quiet on Set”, where Bell revealed for the first time that he was sexually assaulted as a teenager by his dialogue coach, Brian Peck (not related to Josh).
Josh clarified that he didn’t want the fans who cherished “Drake & Josh” to feel disappointed, as he understands the significance of the show for everyone. He further stated, “You recognize that the good times were indeed special, and we were fortunate to be a part of something we truly enjoyed… However, there’s also the reality of everything you encountered, things that were difficult and inappropriate in many ways. You have to grapple with this.”
Josh wanted to make sure fans who love “Drake & Josh” don’t feel let down because he knows what the show means to them. He also acknowledged that while the good times were great, there were challenging experiences too, and they had to deal with these.)
He went on to explain, “Often, folks would inquire about the TV series, and I’d respond, ‘You see, I shed around a hundred pounds and had to overcome addiction at the age of 21. Was I appearing joyful?’ Essentially, it was a hint.
Speaking about the duo from “Drake & Josh,” which aired from 2004 to 2007, Soffer stated that they were young, but were expected to behave like mature adults and worked with many grown-ups. He expressed his difficulty in comprehending the idea of forfeiting their developmental years or having such significant responsibility at an age when they were just discovering themselves and learning how to interact with others.
For the first time since their time working together on Nickelodeon shows like “All That” and “The Amanda Show”, Brian Peck’s former costars are meeting up to talk about the allegations made against him in a recent documentary. Back in 2003, Brian was arrested for 11 charges including sodomy, lewd acts with a minor aged 14 or 15, and oral copulation under the influence of anesthesia or controlled substances. The identity of the victim was kept secret at the time but was revealed in last year’s documentary.
In the podcast’s preview, the duo discuss how it’s been 20 years since their show first aired, with Josh admitting his unawareness of his costar’s actions, and revealing if they’ve interacted with Amanda Bynes post-documentary. At one point, Bell is seen shedding tears. “I don’t think we’ve ever had this conversation before,” Josh states.
In December, Bell said he’d love to work with Josh again somehow.
He shares a deep affection for the show ‘Drake & Josh’, and he’s eager to revisit his character once more. During an interview on the “Beyond the Velvet Rope” podcast, he expressed this desire, stating his longing for a return to Josh. His aspiration is to create something similar to ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, where he and possibly Drake could portray themselves, trying to navigate modern life together.
Check out the trailer for the upcoming podcast below. The first episode releases on March 24, with the second following on March 27.
