Destiny 2’s Court of Blades Needs Urgent Loot Improvements Now!

On February 4, Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy saw a surge in active players. However, if swift action isn’t taken, the controversial mid-season update might jeopardize this growth in just a moment’s notice.

Presented concurrently with Heresy Act 2, the Court of Blades – a spinoff of Destiny’s Court of Oryx activity – introduces an endlessly repeatable time-trial mode where Guardians engage in a series of boss battles, incorporating some elements from rogue-like games to enhance the experience.

While it’s compact, delightful, and an excellent space for trying out fresh constructions, its primary drawback lies in the area that matters most – the loot.

The Nether did it better

In Act 1, the Nether’s action is repeatedly admired by the community as an outstanding and repeatable activity. This activity consistently sends a wave of loot crashing in with each exploration into the Hive-filled corridors of the Dreadnaught.

In simpler terms, it’s been a while since Destiny 2 provided such an abundance of rewards like in “Into The Light,” and the return to sparse loot distribution by the Court of Blades makes the situation feel all the more disappointing.

Although Bungie may not feel obligated to address every complaint directly, they are typically open to receiving such feedback. Moreover, there’s a history of the studio making adjustments during the season based on player feedback, similar to how they fine-tuned Revenant’s Tonic system.

Heresy Act 2’s Court of Blades is a homage to the original Destiny’s Court of Oryx activity.

The main point of discussion is: Why was Court of Blades initially released in its current form? Since all Heresy’s weapons can be found in the Nether and the Court, without any exclusivity to either location, and given that the Nether offers more rewards, it raises a question as to why one should consider Court of Blades for anything beyond quest necessities.

Destiny 2 is known as one of the most successful games that uses a “carrot-on-a-stick” approach in gaming. If there are two equally enjoyable activities, and one provides better loot in an objective sense, it’s likely that players will choose the one with a faster reward rate.

Instead of relying solely on Nether as your go-to source for valuable loot before Frontiers launches this summer, which might cause burnout, it’s advisable to take advantage of the time gap by enhancing the Court of Blades for a more diverse gaming experience.
