Gumayusi’s Shocking Return: T1 CEO Overrules Coaches to Reinstate Star ADC!

Initially, T1’s choice to sit Gumayusi on the bench and bring up Smash, their rookie ADC from the Challengers team, sparked much debate. However, despite Smash demonstrating impressive skills, he has now been relegated back to the bench in favor of Gumayusi again.

Instead of following the usual procedure where T1’s coaching staff evaluates both players and chooses their favorite, an unusual turn of events occurred. In this instance, T1 CEO Joe Marsh stepped in and personally decided to reinstate player Gumayusi.

As an ardent esports enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that in an extraordinary decision, the head honcho of our team has boldly reshuffled his coaching crew. The goal? To reinstate the Worlds-conquering ADC back into our starting lineup!

T1’s CEO takes matters into his own hands

His statement to T1 supporters clarifies why the first move was made, details his involvement, and underscores that both Gumayusi and Smash are esteemed team members within our organization.

He clarified that some of you might be feeling upset about our lack of communication regarding squad adjustments and the potential shift to a six-player team. Rest assured, this wasn’t because we didn’t care about your feelings, but rather because we’ve been having important conversations within our management and coaching staff.

I fully rely on Becker, kkOma, and the coaching team, and after thorough discussions with them, I’ve asked for Gumayusi to join the opening roster. As a result, he will start when the regular season kicks off. This decision wasn’t made impulsively – as CEO, it’s my duty to consider the long-term implications and act in the best interests of T1.

Instead of removing Smash from the team, it’s confirmed that Gumayusi will occupy a permanent starting position for some time ahead. Marsh stated they will evaluate each play strategy to find the one offering the greatest potential for success in the long term, and whoever fits this description will be the one to take the field.

The CEO of T1 clarified that they chose to trial Smash due to his impressive showing in the Challengers cup. It’s hard to argue with Joe Marsh on this point, given how exceptional Smash’s LCK rookie debut turned out to be – one of the best opening performances in the league’s history.

Regardless, Marsh has made the decision that Guma should be starting.

I strongly feel that he deserves another chance to showcase his skills among the top-tier ADCs worldwide. Just as I previously stated, ‘Gumayusi’ is deeply committed to T1, and expressing my appreciation for this unwavering loyalty is important to me.

Following Hanwha Life Esports’ surprising purchase of Zeus, this transaction turned out to be the most stunning off-season swap. The personnel at T1 were disheartened by the way the deal unfolded, while the organization voiced their criticism towards both Zeus’ agent and Hanwha Life Esports.
