College Football 26: Athletes Set to Cash In with Doubled Pay!

Approximately 14,000 athletes may be receiving substantial payments as their names and appearances are being utilized by EA Sports for the upcoming College Football 26 game.

The suspension of college football games in video games occurred following NCAA 14 in 2013, owing to legal complications stemming from the incorporation of real college athletes’ names and appearances in the game without compensation.

2021 saw the implementation of a new policy under the NIL deal, empowering athletes to earn money using their personal brand, such as their name, image, or likeness. This development led Electronic Arts (EA) to compensate college football players $600 for featuring them in College Football 25.

After an eleven-year absence, College Football 25 surpassed predictions and broke records as the highest-grossing sports video game ever sold in U.S. history. Exact figures on its earnings remain undisclosed, but it proved to be an overwhelming success.

College football players will reportedly reap the rewards of that success.

College Football 26 is paying over $16 million just for athletes

According to The Athletic, EA Sports plans to compensate college football players with a sum of $1,500 per player for the game titled College Football 26. This amount is nearly three times the initial payment of $600 and could reach as high as $3,000 for well-known players or cover athletes.

Electronic Arts (EA) compensated 11,000 college football players for their appearance in NCAA Football 25, as reported by The Athletic. This compensation amount is expected to remain consistent for NCAA Football 26. Consequently, EA will spend over $16.5 million on the player names and likeness deals alone for these two games.

There’s always a chance that certain individuals might decline an agreement. For instance, Texas quarterback Arch Manning initially declined the offer but later joined in, while others didn’t get included until after the project was already underway. Regrettably, not every participant managed to stay throughout the entire process.

The next installment of College Football, version 26, is scheduled for release in the summer of 2025. To clarify, its predecessor, College Football 25, debuted on July 19, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that this upcoming game will be launched on the same exact date.
