Commandos Origins introduces feature never seen in the iconic strategy series. Check out new gameplay and PC system requirements

The release of Commandos: Origins is fast approaching, so it’s the perfect time to introduce the next installment of the cult series. The developers of the strategy game, Claymore Game studio, went to Steam to disclose some key elements of the game in a recent post. One of them is the command mode, which is a complete new feaature in the Commandos series.

Based on the information given, it seems that this function involves “queuing actions for several characters.” This means that our characters will, for instance, have the chance to eliminate two guards who are in each other’s sight without needing to distract one first. The developers add that the command mode “will support the player performing actions independently and in any order.”

In the newest version of “Commandos”, players can expect atmospheric cutscenes. Developers have shared that besides an initial sequence (viewable here), each mission comes with cutscenes depicting a bird’s-eye view of the map and current conditions.

Cutscenes are the narrative heartbeat of our game, seamlessly bridging the gap between gameplay and story. While the strategy game camera provides players with an overview, we want to get closer to our characters with our cinematic camera in cutscenes, creating a stronger connection to our iconic cast and a truly immersive experience – explained Thilo Gebhardt, artistic director at Claymore Game.

The devs also focused on the game’s dubbing. Besides presenting a sample of the English lines, they reminded us that, in response to fans’ opinions, they also added lines in German, French, Spanish, and Chinese.

The game’s publisher, Kalypso Media, revealed the system requirements for Commandos: Origins.

Commandos: Origins in digital version will be released on April 9, 2025 (also available in Xbox Game Pass). That day, the game will hit PC, PS5, and XSX/S. We will have to wait until May 22 for its physical edition release.
