Monster Hunter Wilds has quite a few items for you to get your hunting hands on. These range from the copious materials you gather from the monsters you slay, to the massive amount of materials you gather across the world. However, these are all items you have control over gathering. This isn’t the case for all materials.
Some items, such as the Great Hibiscus, rely on a fair amount of luck to encounter, and even then you can’t guarantee how much you will get, or if you’ll get any at all. Here, we’ll tell you just how to find Great Hibiscus and what it’s used for in the first place, and how you can boost your chances of getting some.
Where To Get Great Hibiscus
Great Hibiscus is not an item that is dropped by enemies, nor can it be gathered from the world. In fact, it’s not an item you have any control of when you’ll get at all. Though you can narrow down where you get it, you can’t ever be sure you will receive any. Great Hibiscus is found through Material Retrieval with Rysher in Sild.
In Sild, there’s always a possibility that the Great Hibiscus will turn up when new materials are gathered, regardless of which item you ask Rysher to retrieve. Don’t stress about selecting the wrong item because it’s all just a matter of chance that the Great Hibiscus is collected. However, only Rysher can bring some back.
Make sure to activate a Gathering Boost before sending Rysher out to collect to increase the speed at which he collects, and the number of items he comes back with.
This is the only guaranteed way to get Great Hibiscus, though it is still quite low. There is one other method, though it also relies on a fair amount of luck, and that is Item Trading. Characters in Sild will sometimes have Great Hibiscus available for trade, usually in exchange for some form of Fossilized Opal or Wylk Gem. Gawdygog in the Wudwud Hideout will also sometimes have Great Hibiscus on offer, though for the quite a large amount of Ancient Wyvern Coins.
Uses For Great Hibiscus
If you ever do manage to collect even Great Hibiscus, you’ll be happy to hear that it is used to create one of the game’s many secret armor sets. In this case, it is the Melahoa set. This comes with the Marathon Runner, Hunger Resistance, Item Prolonger, Free Meal, Constitution, Sleep Resistance, Bind Resistance, and Stamina Surge skills. Needless to say, it’s pretty packed.
As a fan, I’d need five individual Great Hibiscuses to craft the complete set, since each item requires one. If my goal is to gather both versions of the set, I’ll need a total of ten Great Hibiscuses due to their unique nature. Since the process might take some time, it’s crucial to focus on creating the pieces that appeal to me the most first.
