Jason Isaacs Shuts Down ‘White Lotus’ Penis Question and Says ‘It’s Odd There’s a Double Standard’ With Male Nude Scenes

Jason Isaacs finds it tiresome to continually field questions about whether he used a prosthetic penis for his role in “The White Lotus.” After the fourth episode of the third season, conversations with the actor have primarily revolved around the scene where Timothy Ratliff, played by Isaacs, exposed himself while wearing a bathrobe in front of his children. Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook, fellow cast members, confirmed to TV Insider that a prosthetic was indeed used, yet the topic remains a subject of endless discussions.

As a fan here, I’ve got to weigh in on this topic that’s been buzzing everywhere online. During an appearance on “CBS Mornings,” Isaacs was asked about my full-frontal nude scene and whether it was a prosthetic or not. It’s fascinating because, while everyone seems to be talking about it, no one seems to be discussing the fact that this year’s Best Actress at the Oscars, Mikey Madison, had her character’s vulva on screen constantly, yet there’s been little chatter about that.

I find it intriguing how society seems to apply different rules for men and women,” I pointed out. “For instance, in the show ‘The Substance,’ when Margaret Qualley is shown naked, people wouldn’t dare to discuss her private parts like genitalia or nipples. It’s perplexing that we maintain such a double standard.

Isaac explained that he avoided addressing the topic of his prosthetic penis because he believes people aren’t interested in the behind-the-scenes details. To put it simply, he finds it unusual to discuss such matters when there are characters (some of whom are female and partially undressed) present in the scene. Just as you wouldn’t consider discussing their genitalia, he feels it would be equally inappropriate here.

As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but rave about Mike White’s exceptional storytelling – it’s been a while since I’ve been this captivated by a TV series. And while his work is remarkable, I find myself puzzled by the recurring focus on male anatomy. It’s an unusual choice, to say the least.

Nivola and Hook, who portrayed Isaac’s children on set, shared that it was quite amusing to film the scene where Isaac wore a prosthetic penis prop.

“He was very excited to do it,” Hook told TV Insider. “I think he took pride in the prosthetic.”

He’s like, ‘It’s my fake dick scene today!’” Nivola added.
