Nippon Ichi Software reveals multiple game projects, including new RPGs codenamed Curse and Kyouran

During a live broadcast dubbed “Untitled//,” Nippon Ichi Software unveiled several upcoming video game projects. Among these, three fit within the genres we typically cover.

As an eager gamer, I’m thrilled to share that all these upcoming games are planned to release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. A handful of them will still offer compatibility with PlayStation 4. Interestingly, many of the games showcased are currently under working titles, with their official names yet to be unveiled.

It’s worth mentioning that you might find it puzzling why there are no PC versions available, given current trends. The reason for this is that the NIS America division typically takes care of both the PC releases and global English versions.

Curse

The intriguing title that has caught our attention goes by the name “Curse,” a captivating dark dungeon RPG set to release on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch in the year 2025.

In this game, the character takes on the part of an explorer who must save a town plagued by enchantments, all while delving into dungeons filled with hidden riches. However, within these dungeons, there’s a risk that the character could pick up more curses from attacks by enemies or traps inside treasure chests.

Yet, although the spells undeniably impose penalties on the player, there will also be scenarios offering significant risks and rewards, where the character can travel back to town with the curses still active, only to find them being purified. This process strengthens the main character considerably.


Kyouran

Another project that bears a strong resemblance is called “Kyouran” (Misfortunate Chaos), scheduled for release on PS5 and Switch in 2026 as an action RPG. This project shares a significant connection with the Disgaea series, with Takehito Harada taking on character design duties and Tenpei Sato handling the music composition. Shunsuke Minowa, who previously worked on Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, will be overseeing the development team for this project as well.

In this project, you’ll find that Disgaea references continue, with gameplay elements borrowed from the company’s renowned series. These aspects encompass high-level numbers like four-digit stages and nine-digit damages. The character you control will be a mercenary, tasked with defeating numerous monsters. Interestingly, some of these creatures can become allies as the story progresses. At the end of each stage, a massive boss awaits. The friendly monsters can even serve as extra weapons for the main character to use.


Shinigami Hime

Although Shinigami Hime isn’t strictly an RPG, it shares strong similarities with our previous discussions on The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince and The Cruel King and the Great Hero. This upcoming action-adventure game is planned for release on PS5 and Switch in 2026.

The following artworks might remind you of the previously mentioned titles due to the fact that Sayaka Oda, who worked on both games, is also the character designer for this new project. Moreover, Kento Jobana is penning the story for Shinigami Hime, a tale centered around a library gathering picture books depicting the transformations of various girls who were deeply affected by traumatic experiences.


Other revealed titles

To sum up the coverage, the other three titles revealed in this stream were as follows:

  • Fuuraiki 5, a motorcycle travel-based visual novel with actual backgrounds from Japan’s Mie prefecture; this title is the one most primed for release in Japan on the PS5, PS4, and Switch on July 31.
  • Gobble, a side-scrolling action coming to PS5 and Switch in 2025
  • Renzu (Chain Curse), a horror visual novel slated for release on PS5, PS4, and Switch in Summer 2025
