Actresses Marcia Gay Harden, who won an Oscar, and Virginia Madsen, who was nominated, along with Paris Jackson and Skeet Ulrich have recently joined the cast for director Catherine Hardwicke’s movie titled “Street Smart.

Skylar Astin, Sally Struthers, and Tyson Ritter have joined the cast for this film, centered around a group of homeless young individuals residing in Venice, California, and their encounters with peculiar personalities.

Additional cast members have been added to the previously announced lineup, which includes Isabelle Fuhrman, Yara Shahidi, Michael Cimino, Daniel Zovatto, Kaitlyn Kemp, Miles McKenna, Sylvester Powell, Harvey Guillén, and professional skateboarder Isiah Hilt. Colleen Camp, Rio Mangini, Bevin Bru, and JJ Green have also joined the project in supporting roles.

I had the privilege of collaborating on a drama script alongside the renowned author and screenwriter Nic Sheff, best known for his works like “13 Reasons Why” and “Tweak.” Our story promises an intense, captivating glimpse into the lives of an energetic ensemble who, with their wit and a hint of Robin Hood-esque mischief, form a bond that proves indestructible. We’ve redefined the concept of family in this narrative. Filming for our project recently concluded in the bustling city of Los Angeles.

Produced by Natalie Marciano of Poster Child Pictures, along with Jamie R. Thompson from New Dimensions, and Hardwicke, ‘Street Smart’ has executive producers Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel from G-BASE, as well as Jamie Marshall, Furhman, Zovatto, David Lasky, Michael Arata, Rock Jacobs, and Batia Parnass from Rebel Entertainment.

The production crew collaborated with charitable organizations such as Covenant House and Safe Place for Youth, who specialize in aiding homeless and vulnerable young people, to make sure the movie handled delicately and truthfully the difficulties confronted by homeless youth, specifically mental health issues, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
