How To Unlock Multiple Monster Hunts In Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the series’ hunt format is refreshed with an innovative twist. Although hunts can still be assigned from your Handler via a menu and you depart from camp for them, you also have the freedom to spontaneously engage in a hunt against any monster encountered in the world without needing to access a menu first.

In this tale, most of the quests involve facing off against a solitary monster, which can become routine over time. However, if you’re seeking a greater challenge, you might want to explore the concept of Great Hunts. Unlike the regular storyline, these aren’t automatically available; instead, you must actively work towards unlocking them for a more demanding experience. Now, let’s delve into how to access these challenging quests.

What Are Great Hunts?

In the context of the game, regular hunts typically involve tracking down only one monster. These are standard hunts. A Great Hunt, however, signifies a hunt where you engage not one, but two monsters during the course of a single expedition. It’s worth noting that these two monsters may not always be found together on the map, but rather, you must defeat both of them to successfully complete the hunt.

These often have a slightly shorter deadline for completion and allow the same number of faints by hunters. However, they offer significantly enhanced rewards such as additional resources and relics for crafting Artian weapons. Whenever feasible, it’s advisable to participate in Great Hunts due to these extra perks.

How To Unlock Great Hunts

To access Grand Quests, you need to finish the Low Rank story and progress into High Rank. Once you do this, they’ll become connected to missions in every region. For each region, a specific mission needs to be accomplished before the system enables it; unlike all regions unlocking simultaneously, they’ll unlock one at a time. Each region has a unique quest, typically requiring the hunting of two monsters concurrently.

Here are the quests you must complete in each region:

  • Windward Plains – Continuing Conflict
  • Scarlet Forest – Fur Damagings Are Dislikeworthy
  • Oilwell Basin – Troublemakers
  • Iceshard Cliffs – Echoing From The Cliffs
  • Ruins Of Wyveria – The Struggle To Survive

Once all these tasks are finished, you’ll gain access to Grand Pursuits in every region. You can spot them on the map’s environment summary tab, and you’ll also receive a notification when they become available. Normally, only one Grand Pursuit will show up in a region at once, though exceptions may occur.

Be sure to bookmark or mark as an investigation any significant hunts you encounter when you’re not yet prepared to tackle them, in order to keep the potential benefits they provide.
