It’s obvious that Apple TV+ wasn’t going to let its most successful comedy series, Ted Lasso, come to an end after just three seasons, even though it was originally slated to finish in 2023. However, Apple confirmed on March 14 that the show is indeed returning! Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, made a statement saying, “Ted Lasso has been more than just a hit; it’s become a juggernaut, inspiring fans worldwide with its endless laughter and spreading kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Jason Sudeikis and the creative geniuses behind this exceptional series.” Here is what we currently know about the upcoming fourth season.
Is Ted Lasso being rebooted?
As a die-hard film fan, I must clarify that Apple TV+ doesn’t label it as a comeback or reboot. Instead, they refer to it as a “renewal” because Ted Lasso never technically ended with season three. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in 2021, the show’s star Jason Sudeikis hinted that “the story that’s being told—that three-season arc—is one that I see, know, and understood.
Who is coming back?
In the upcoming season 4, only Jason Sudeikis, playing Ted Lasso, has officially been confirmed as returning. The creators have hinted that the characters at AFC Richmond will adopt a new approach – leaping before they look – discovering that their destination, no matter where it is, is where they’re supposed to be. This was shared in the press release.
However, this doesn’t prevent us from making guesses… Earlier, Apple TV+ secured the rights for Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) in case Ted Lasso comes back. This means they will continue to be compensated, giving them flexible schedules if the show resumes.
What’s it going to be about?
During an appearance on the podcast “New Heights” with Jason and Travis Kelce on March 14, actor and executive producer Sudeikis revealed some exclusive details. Among other things, he mentioned that the series is being penned at present. When asked if Ted was returning to the United States, Sudeikis playfully replied, “That’s too many questions.
When is it coming out?
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I must share some exciting (and slightly impatient) news! Though there’s no official release date announced just yet, the creative team is hard at work crafting Season 4 of that delightful series we all love – Ted Lasso. Given the ongoing writing process, it seems we might have to wait until at least 2026 for our next dose of Ted-filled joy. But fear not! In the interim, there’s a treasure trove of over 10,000 captivating tales about your beloved characters waiting for you on AO3. Enjoy the journey while we eagerly anticipate the next chapter together!
