Silent Hill f will break more than one taboo. Check out the first trailer and PC requirements

According to what was shared, last night’s stream by Konami featured the long-awaited reveal of the latest instalment in the Silent Hill series. The most exciting part was undoubtedly the unveiling of a brand-new trailer, but there were also plenty of interesting details disclosed about this upcoming project.

  1. The platforms have finally been confirmed. The game is heading to PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5. The fact that the title will hit XSX/S is a pleasant surprise, as last year’s Silent Hill 2 Remake was released exclusively on PC and PS5.
  2. The PC version will be sold on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
  3. Unfortunately, the planned release date hasn’t yet been announced.
  4. Interestingly, this will be the series’ first installment with an 18+ age rating in Japan (via Automaton-Media).

The game under development is a product of the Neobards Entertainment studio, known for their collaborative work with Capcom on titles like “RE Resistance,” “Resident Evil Re: Verse,” and the “DMC HD Collection.

Silent Hill f plot

The game transports us to the 1960s, specifically to the Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. In Silent Hill f, we follow the story of a high school girl named Shimizu Hinako, and the narrative delves into themes like uncertainty, remorse, and difficult decisions that must be made.

For some time, Steam has enabled developers to place warnings about potentially disputable content on game boxes. Recently, Konami has taken advantage of this function, giving us a glimpse into the nature of this game.

This game features portrayals of bias based on gender, instances of child mistreatment, acts of cruelty from peers, scenes involving altered states due to drug use, instances of extreme pain inflicted, and intense depictions of violence.

The game, which unfolds against the backdrop of 1960s Japan, portrays scenes inspired by the era’s traditions and societal norms. It is important to note that these representations do not represent the views or values of the game creators or anyone associated with its production.

Should you ever find yourself feeling uneasy during gameplay, don’t hesitate to pause the game or talk to someone reliable about it.

Given Ryukishi07’s reputation as a creator of thought-provoking visual novel games like Higurashi and Umineko, it’s no wonder we should expect a complex narrative with pressing themes. This is because he has poured all his creative energy into the game Silent Hill f, to the point where he wouldn’t be disappointed if this became his final masterpiece.

Akira Yamaoka, renowned from past games, will join forces with other composers – Kensuke Inage, dai, and xaki – to create the soundtrack. Notably, Ryukishi07’s frequent collaborators, dai and xaki, have a significant role due to their prior work on visual novel projects. Meanwhile, Kera takes charge of designing the characters, including monstrous ones.
