Popular Science Launches FAST Channel Via Underknown (EXCLUSIVE)

Popular Science‘s longstanding legacy is behind a forthcoming streaming service from Toronto-based Underknown, named FAST. This service will be accessible through platforms such as FUBO, Plex, Sling Freestream, Vizio, Local Now, and various other FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) platforms.

The broadcasting platform plans to air live rocket launches and serve as the central station for the space-related series “This Week in Spaceflight” and “Starbase Update”, provided by NASA Spaceflight. Additionally, renowned science content creators from YouTube such as Hacksmith, Complexly, and Underknown (the team behind web brands like “What If,” “How to Survive,” “Animalogic” and “Aperture”) will contribute their work.

Steve Hulford, CEO and co-founder of Underknown, expressed his excitement about launching the iconic Popular Science magazine on its own television network. This expansion aims to preserve Popular Science’s tradition of trustworthy storytelling and technological advancement. By merging leading science brands from YouTube, television, and cinema, we are designing a platform that combines narrative and exploration. With partnerships such as NASA Spaceflight, Hacksmith, and Complexly, we are transforming Popular Science into not just a channel, but a sought-after destination for enthusiasts of science and technology.

Popular Science, originally a science magazine that started publishing in 1872, has grown into a more comprehensive platform today.

For over 150 years, Popular Science magazine has aimed to clarify and explain the world and what’s to come for us all, making science understandable for everyone. By teaming up with Underknown, we can now bring Popular Science to television screens nationwide, offering a fresh chance to share intriguing content and interact with audiences in new and innovative ways. I believe that blending Underknown’s TV know-how with our magazine’s rich history will ensure viewers remain fascinated by the amazing science they encounter daily.

As a follower, I’m sharing that Recurrent Ventures Inc., the proprietor of the Popular Science trademark, has granted permission to utilize this esteemed brand for the establishment of a new network. The FAST channel management company, acTVe, is spearheading the debut of the Popular Science channel across various platforms and managing the technical aspects behind the scenes.

Geoff Clark, CEO of acTVe, stated that by blending Underknown’s unique content and flavor with Popular Science’s well-respected reputation, we’ve crafted an ideal recipe for a top-tier streaming channel,”
