Today, Ubisoft revealed that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X, an extensive free update for the widely-played tactical first-person shooter, will be available starting from a specific date. This announcement was made during the live and in-person Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase that took place in Atlanta, Georgia. One of the significant changes, among many, is the introduction of a permanent 6v6 mode called Dual Front. The launch of Rainbow Six Siege X is tentatively scheduled for June 10th, 2025, and there’s an opportunity to participate in the closed beta starting today until March 19th, allowing players early access before the official release.
Rainbow Six Siege X release date announced with new game mode and more
As a dedicated gamer, I’m beyond excited about the massive update coming to our beloved game this December! It marks a decade since its inception, making it the perfect time for such a monumental expansion. Ubisoft has been hesitant to label this a sequel, but make no mistake, it significantly enhances almost every aspect of the game, giving it a fresh feel rather than a traditional sequel. This update is going to revolutionize the audio design, providing us with crucial information in high-stress situations, and also offers visual enhancements for numerous maps. The full stream runs for over two hours, but if you’re short on time, there’s a concise video that highlights the new game mode and other modifications as well.
In the fresh 6v6 perpetual mode called “Dual Front,” introduced in “Rainbow Six Siege X,” there’s a brand-new map tailored for this innovative gameplay style. The map is split into three pathways, each controlled by one team, with a neutral zone smack dab in the middle. Each side gets an additional player, making it 6 versus 6, and they can switch characters as many times as desired to adapt their strategy during play. Teams secure victory by damaging three consecutive objectives, planting a device to destroy them, and defending the area until the job is done. However, beware of the opposing team, who’s also aiming for the same targets. This unique blend of offense and defense sets it apart from traditional “Siege” gameplay.
As a dedicated gamer diving back into Rainbow Six Siege X, I’m thrilled to share that the gameplay experience is about to get even more intense! Now, fire extinguishers won’t just put out fires; they’ll also create a veil of smokescreens, adding an element of surprise. Red pipes, on the other hand, will leak and then explode, turning nearby areas into temporary infernos. That’s not all! The new repelling mechanics are here to shake things up. So, when I find myself clinging to a building’s roof, I can now swing around corners with greater agility and maneuverability, opening up a whole new world of strategic possibilities.
The closed beta for “Rainbow Six Siege X” is ongoing until March 19th. To participate, you should connect your Ubisoft account with a Twitch account and watch a stream that distributes access codes. Once you receive the code in the email linked to your accounts, you can choose your platform from PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S.
