A police officer intervened when a delivery person felt scared to hand over a pizza at the customer’s doorstep because it was impeded by a colossal alligator.
In the sunshine state of Florida, alligators are a common and characteristic sight, typically lounging in rivers, lakes, swamps, and bayous. However, on occasion, these ancient-looking reptiles may stray from their usual habitats and find themselves in people’s backyards or driveways instead.
Back in March 2025, a captivating clip circulated across social media platforms. It was about me, or rather, a gator who decided to pay an unexpected visit to an elderly lady’s driveway in good ol’ Bradenton, Florida. The twist? This happened just minutes after she had placed an order for a pizza to be delivered right at her doorstep!
Reports indicate that the alligator measured about eight feet in length, causing residents to contact the authorities for its safe removal from their neighborhood.
Police officer steps in to deliver pizza after gator gets in the way
After contacting Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Department regarding the animal, Officer Tolson proceeded to the residence for an investigation, where he ran into a delivery person who was preparing to deliver a pizza.
She confessed with a tremulous chuckle, “I’m feeling quite apprehensive,” following the warning about the gator nearby. “Would you like to proceed, officer?
Even though my neighbor cautioned me, I hadn’t received the warning yet. Stepping out to fetch my pizza, I had no idea a massive gator was lurking beneath my vehicle. Suddenly, an officer yelled for me to hurry back inside, revealing the unexpected and rather scaly visitor hiding in the shadows.
“Oh my heavens!” she exclaimed. “There’s a big alligator under my car!”
In the end, I ventured out to my back porch to grab the long-awaited pizza, which had been brought by the considerate police officer. Not only did he deliver it, but he also snapped a photo of the creature with my phone, ensuring my safety by not having me put myself in harm’s way.
In a short while, the wildlife team managed to capture and move the sauntering alligator.
It’s not the first instance of a gator dominating social media feeds; last summer, a fellow Floridian made headlines by using a wild alligator’s tooth to open his beer can, offering a unique approach to popping open a cool beverage!
