Recommended Party:
Viktor
Position: Front Row
Rune: Double-Jab (aka Double-Beat)
Viktor excels at delivering raw physical damage in the front line, making him a valuable addition to your team. It’s fortunate that he is often essential for your party composition! Placing him in the front line, equipped with his latest weapons, and using the Double-Jab (or Double-Beat) Rune significantly boosts his damage potential.
Flick
Position: Front Row
Rune: Lightning Rune / Thunder Rune
In a simpler fashion, let’s rephrase that: Similar to Viktor, Flik has the potential for strong physical combat, but what sets him apart is his Lightning Rune ability. This skill set can be very beneficial in battles against bosses or large groups due to its area-of-effect options. However, it’s crucial to replace the Lightning Rune with the Thunder Rune (an upgraded version) once you acquire it. Furthermore, Flik is quite stylish and the ‘Rule of Cool’ adds to his appeal as well.
Valeria
Position: Front Row
Rune: Falcon Rune
Valeria is a solid pick, enhancing our first row significantly. This is mainly due to her exclusive Falcon Rune, which she’s the only one who can wield (and it can only be used by her). Her rune, effective whether deployed in the front or back line, deals triple damage each turn without any drawbacks. She’s a straightforward suggestion to consider adding to our team.
The Hero
Position: Back Row
Rune: Soul Eater
As a gamer, I’ve found that the protagonist of Suikoden is an indispensable part of my team throughout the game. He’s remarkably adaptable, able to take on various roles as needed. In tough battles, outfitting him with runes like Mother Earth, Thunder, or Rage can be a game-changer. If I find myself needing extra healing, I switch to the Water Rune. Think of him as my joker – experiment with him since he’s always in my team.
Cleo
Position: Back Row
Rune: Flowing Rune or Rage/Fire Rune or Earth/Mother Earth Rune
In simpler terms, Cleo’s long-range capabilities, her ability to wear medium armor, and her moderate magical power make her an excellent backup choice, particularly for support roles. When armed with a rune like the Flowing Rune, she can function as your party’s healer, absorb some damage herself, and return it too. If you want Cleo to focus more on dealing magical damage, consider swapping out healing abilities for either the Rage/Fire Rune or the Earth/Mother Earth Runes to trigger synergy with Flik and Luc’s unite magic. Additionally, she can sacrifice herself to protect the main character if they are in critical health when targeted.
Luc
Position: Back Row
Rune: Wind Rune
As a devoted admirer, I’d say this character truly shines with his Wind Rune (later upgraded to Cyclone Rune), creating a potent combo for both healing and offensive spells. He might be on the fragile side, so it’s crucial to position him in the back row. Yet, his adaptability makes him an indispensable asset to any team due to his versatility.
