If you recall fondly exchanging shot after shot with your friends against the Covenant in Halo’s Firefight, here’s some exciting news! The latest update to Halo Infinite has reintroduced the classic Firefight mode, a feature that originally debuted in Halo 3: ODST.
Titled “Firefight Classic,” it involves a cooperative gameplay where you and your four companions band together to eliminate an unending horde of adversaries. In this modern rendition of the traditional mode, each round consists of five waves, with three rounds forming a “set.” Your team collectively has access to seven lives. Once these lives are depleted, it’s game over.
In Halo Infinite‘s Firefight Classic, you now have the opportunity to wrap up a game once you’ve completed a specified number of rounds. If two of your teammates enter an area marked “complete the mission,” your entire team will be extracted. If you decide to carry on, each new set brings an additional Skull modifier into play starting from round two and three, adding a fresh twist to the gameplay.
This version additionally offers a collection of Forge maps for experimenting with Firefight Classic, which features recreations of Alpha Site (from Halo 3: ODST) and Security Zone, along with Courtyard (from Halo: Reach). The update that debuted Firefight Classic, Operation: Blue Team, also incorporates various other enhancements, such as the new map Nemesis, the multiplayer mode Hot Swap, and a newly introduced battle pass.
