Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Support Steam Deck at Launch!

The creators behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows have officially confirmed if the game will be compatible with Steam Deck upon its release.

Following a number of independent PC launches, Ubisoft re-entered Steam in the last quarter of 2022, debuting Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla on their platform.

After that, numerous games published by Ubisoft have transitioned, and the company offers Ubisoft Connect users the convenience of logging into their accounts directly on Steam Deck as well.

Of course, given the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s natural for potential players to ponder if they can employ Steam Deck to embark on the journey with Naoe and Yasuke in Feudal Japan.

Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows support Steam Deck?

For some time now, players have been eagerly inquiring, and Ubisoft developers have finally responded affirmatively. Indeed, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be playable on Steam Deck at its launch, as confirmed via a post on the franchise’s official social media page.

According to the Assassin’s Creed team, they’re thrilled to announce that they will be fully compatible with the Steam Deck at its launch. At present, they are simply waiting for Valve to assign a rating to their game on the platform. Ubisoft intends to share more details as time goes on.

Waiting for classification details from Valve suggests that they are currently testing the game on a mobile device, as the game’s compatibility with Valve’s deck is determined according to four categories – Verified (the game runs smoothly), Playable (the game may have some issues but can still be played), Unsupported (the game does not run on the device), and Unknown (the status of the game’s compatibility is currently undetermined).

Confirmed indicates the game operates smoothly, while Playable refers to a game that functions but might need adjustments from the user for optimal performance.

A game labeled as “Unsupported” cannot run on the Steam Deck whatsoever. Additionally, games categorized as “Unknown” have not been tested for compatibility by Valve.

We’ll make certain to revise this article promptly once Ubisoft discloses more details concerning the Steam Deck compatibility and settings for Assassin’s Creed: Shadow.
