Simon ‘Miniminter’ Minter has shared insights about the unfortunate turn of events following the viral penalty save by Sketch during this year’s Sidemen Charity Match, which shattered his hopes for the tournament.
The YouTube AllStars emerged victorious from this year’s charity game, triumphing in a thrilling penalty shootout by a score of 5-4, following an exhilarating 9-9 draw. This epic battle took place before a capacity crowd at Wembley Stadium, with approximately 90,000 spectators in attendance and millions more tuning in online via YouTube.
In a remarkable turn of events during the match, Sketch made an extraordinary save on Miniminter’s penalty kick, which many believe was the most impactful play of the game. As a result, he was crowned Player of the Match, demonstrating his exceptional skills and leadership as Sidemen FC’s top player.

As a gamer, I’d say, “I made it clear to Calfreezy, my manager for the match, that I wasn’t keen on taking a penalty. Throughout my football career, I’ve only taken three penalties that mattered – in matches, shootouts, or whatever. None of them resulted in a goal. I didn’t want this one either, but I was placed first by the team.
As I approached, there wasn’t a single fleeting thought in my mind that Sketch might jump in.
Miniminter went on to say, “This might come across as rather arrogant, and I really don’t like it, but if you were to ask many people who they think has the best chance of scoring, Joe Weller [Weller] is definitely among those mentioned. However, a good number of them would probably pick me.
If it weren’t for me, the plot would have been flawless. Sketch transformed into a hero by saving a crucial penalty, and as a result, Speed ended up scoring another decisive penalty.
