In the latest episode of our beloved show, “Wealthy Women’s Adventures”, these affluent ladies embarked on an exotic journey to St. Lucia, a nation named after a woman (although Ireland is named after a goddess known as Meghan King Edmonds). They extended invitations to join them and presented their companions with trendy Telfar purses, a brand I was once acquainted with through my friend DJ Michael Magnan. Incidentally, we all used to socialize at Slurp on Tuesday nights at The Cock, where Linda Simpson, a drag personality akin to Kathy Hilton, graced our presence. Oh, the nostalgia of our struggling gay days! Now, let’s get back to the rich women. What more did they do? They were reluctant to ascend stairs to their villas, hesitated about consuming candy that exploded in their luggage, and unpacked all 90 bottles of La Mer skincare for a four-day trip. Frankly, these wealthy ladies are stretching the season rather thin. Could we perhaps witness some amusing escapades during their vacation to make the conversations more engaging?
Primarily, the wealthier ladies engaged in rather informal discussions with their significant others. Let’s begin by focusing on Boz and Keely, as they gather with Boz’s daughter, Leal, who initiates a series of queries that both Boz and spectators are eager to learn: Will he relocate prior to marriage? Is he planning to visit Beverly Hills or will they shift to San Diego instead? Does he desire a single child or multiple? If he were a character from Sex and the City, who would he be, and why is it Miranda in particular? This friendly exchange was refreshing, and I’m pleased that we can continue delving into Boz’s relationship without revisiting baby-related dialogues. By this, I mean discussing the baby that Boz is expected to welcome, rather than using infantile expressions like “goo goo, ga ga, pee pee, poo poo.
As a film enthusiast, I find myself immersed in a conversation between Dorit and PK, who resembles a malodorous gas as dark as mold and as pungent as halibut flatulence. They meet at a restaurant to discuss their impending divorce, with PK appearing disenchanted, almost defying gravity.
PK, who seems to have been poured from Elphaba’s tit into a pint of lager, suggests they need to reach a place where they can be friends again, acknowledging that they’ve lost that connection. When Dorit directly asks if he wants a divorce, PK replies that in six months they might find themselves on friendly terms once more, and everything will be fine with the kids. They decide that being unmarried might serve them better in this situation.
However, the question arises: What if they remain friends and manage their parental responsibilities effectively? Could there still be a chance for reconciliation? Unfortunately, PK, who appears to have been concocted from kombucha and menstruation (not exactly Shirley Temple-like), doesn’t provide any optimistic signs or a roadmap for them rekindling their relationship.
The discussion at this meeting appeared less focused on whether they would divorce and more on how they might part ways civilly. In other words, it seemed to revolve around whether Dorit would adhere to PK’s timeline and court orders. To put it simply, PK’s demeanor resembles a menacing sea urchin, whose needles are as harmful as rusted hypodermic needles from a methadone clinic. He presented an 18-page email detailing Dorit’s alleged mistreatments and potential consequences if they don’t reach a peaceful resolution. This exchange feels like a veiled threat and seems to be part of PK’s negotiation strategy. However, Dorit should not back down in the face of this man’s intimidation tactics; she must stand her ground, take charge of the situation, and fight for what is rightfully hers – likely half of their joint debt and all the pre-mixed Red Bull and vodka drinks stored in their refrigerator.
The final discussion takes place between Kyle and Mauricio, who, while making his coffee in a conspicuously loud manner, seems to be trying to manipulate Kyle into a vulnerable state, as if to control her body and mind, much like the Sunken Place in the movie “Get Out.” Kyle queries about Mauricio’s trip, to which he replies that it was filled with numerous spas, sound healing sessions, and spiritual healing. To explain in Newly Divorced Hot Rich Dad language, spas would be referred to as spending time with a variety of young, attractive women, sound healing would involve partying with friends and taking recreational drugs like MDMA at night events, and spiritual healing would likely mean experimenting with substances such as ketamine.
According to Google Translate, when Mauricio mentions that he enjoyed being without his family so he could make spontaneous decisions, it essentially means that he was free to choose among the three women he kissed during a night out, which one to bring back to his hotel suite. It seems like technology is indeed becoming more versatile these days.
Mo expressed regret for causing pain to Kyle upon seeing the photos, but Kyle maintains his innocence as he hasn’t done anything wrong. Since they are separated, each is free to act as they please, and Kyle was absolutely justified in his actions. Kyle understands this and has stated that the pictures marked a significant moment in her life, signaling her intention to move forward. However, it seems she may have taken a full circle journey, as she appears to have returned to her original state.
1) What’s the status regarding the world’s longest pending divorce? No one has initiated the process yet. If Kyle is dating someone, it remains unknown unless that person happens to be Morgan and she secretly stores her belongings in half of the empty closet. Despite how enlightening these discussions are, it seems we’re all stuck in a holding pattern, similar to an old Isuzu stuck in mud, spinning its tires but only creating a mess as we all wait for that vehicle to eventually sink completely.
The remainder of the episode focuses on all characters reaching St. Lucia, leading to an anticipated confrontation between Dorit, Erika, and Sutton, which will unfold in the upcoming episode. In this particular episode, we see discussions involving Boz, Dorit, Erika at Erika’s residence, as well as Garcelle and Sutton at Sutton’s place, all revolving around the same topic. Erika voices her frustration, stating that both Sutton and Garcelle were unforgiving during a tough phase of her life, but now she feels Sutton seeks sympathy because Dorit made a comment about her drinking habits. This dynamic seems to be at the heart of the season’s tension between the ladies, including myself. Sutton argues that there are different standards for Kyle compared to others, implying she wants similar leniency. She appears to tolerate aggression from others but considers it out-of-bounds when directed towards her. Her justification for this behavior is that her wealth sets her apart, a point I find questionable and insufficient in my opinion.
In these discussions, Garcelle mentions an incident where she dined with Dorit, and during their meal, Garcelle asked Dorit if she would remain friends with Sutton if Sutton offered her a Kelly bag. Unsurprisingly, Dorit affirmed that she would. While it’s well-known that Dorit’s sense of humor is underdeveloped, similar to a Polaroid photo trapped in a camera, it was evident that she was joking. However, the way Garcelle relays the story and Sutton perceives it seems to imply that Dorit could potentially be bought with a handbag. While it’s possible that she could be swayed by a bag, it wasn’t the intention behind Dorit’s words.
Regarding Garcelle, it’s striking that her persistent defense of Sutton seems to backfire on the group, especially since both Garcelle and Sutton have been critical of Boz and Dorit’s identical actions. Frankly, I share some of the same frustrations about how Garcelle allows Sutton to escape accountability for her actions. However, if only Garcelle would confront Sutton about her wrongdoings in private conversations with her, I might be more understanding of her public defense. Unfortunately, it seems that whatever Garcelle said to Sutton about her “cruel” wallet comment during dinner with Dorit was either overlooked or omitted from the show’s edit. It would be less problematic if Garcelle continued defending Sutton in front of the other women when they gather, provided we could see her trying to help Sutton improve behind closed doors. But right now, it appears that all of Sutton’s misdeeds are being concealed, much like PK’s hidden offshore funds.
Additionally, there’s a fair amount of discussion about Sutton’s persistent crush on Kyle and the reason it bothers Garcelle so deeply. It seems to me that Sutton yearns for the kind of social acceptance in Greater Los Angeles that Kyle embodies, where she could mix with the Kathy Hiltons, Kris Jenners, and Faye Resnicks – the morally questionable crowd. Essentially, Sutton desires to be the popular girl. I believe she also seeks proximity to Kyle as a means of inching ever closer to that coveted center position she’ll never occupy so long as Kyle remains part of the cast.
It’s clear that Garcelle appears frustrated with Sutton, seemingly feeling overshadowed by her. Garcelle asks an intriguing question: “Why does Sutton persist in supporting Kyle when Kyle doesn’t reciprocate the same for her?” I can offer a straightforward response to this query: because Sutton is frequently mistaken or wrong-headed. Whether it’s storming out of ‘Magic Mike Live’, criticizing Crystal’s leather pants, or employing her wealth against Dorit, it’s challenging for Kyle to defend Sutton when so much of what she does is questionable. I believe that Garcelle continuing to back Sutton despite this situation speaks more about Garcelle than it does about Kyle.
Instead of striving so hard to fit in as the “cool girl,” perhaps Sutton could just embrace her unique self? That’s what Jennifer Tilly does, and she’s thriving this season. She expresses her concerns about the cliquishness among the group to Garcelle and Sutton, stating that she thought they would all be close-knit sisters, but instead, she encounters a lot of petty bickering stemming from longstanding dynamics. While Jennifer may be grappling with this, she’s still shining brightly. The cast appears to adore her (contrary to certain tabloid reports I find questionable), the audience seems smitten with her, and she seems to be enjoying herself more than Mauricio at his deepest level of Burning Man tripping. Sutton should look up to Jennifer as a role model – that’s who she should aspire to be, though it might contradict the intention. Simply be yourself, unapologetically and quirkily, and I believe Sutton will find fans flocking to her faster than last night’s vindaloo escaping from PK.
