28 Days Later Writer Says The Last Of Us Is Better

Recently, directors Neil Druckmann and Alex Garland had a comprehensive and intriguing conversation. They delved into their respective careers, with a common thread as both The Last of Us series by Druckmann and 28 Days Later by Garland revolve around viruses causing massive societal breakdowns. During this discussion, Garland expressed his belief that The Last of Us (2013) surpasses 28 Days Later (2002), particularly in terms of its writing quality.

As a dedicated gamer, let me tell you that “The Last of Us” surpasses “28 Days Later,” at least in terms of its writing. I’m well-versed with both, and while I hold “28 Days Later” dear, it’s fair to say that “The Last of Us” takes the experience to an entirely new dimension. It’s not a knock on “28 Days Later,” which played a significant role in my gaming journey, but “The Last of Us” truly stands out.

28 Days Later, helmed by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, features Cillian Murphy in its cast. The subsequent film, 28 Weeks Later, released in 2007, is followed by the upcoming 28 Years Later in June. Although Boyle and Garland had minimal involvement with the sequel, they are set to return as director and writer for 28 Years Later respectively, making a comeback this summer.

Garland is also known for writing and directing Annihilation, Ex Machina, Civil War, and Men.

It’s uncertain if there will be a third game in the “The Last of Us” series, but fans can look forward to the PC version of “The Last of Us 2 Remastered,” which is scheduled for release in April. As for the TV show, “The Last of Us Season 2” will also debut in April, and a fresh trailer has been unveiled at SXSW.
