“Kill Tony” is coming to Netflix.
Three unique comedy specials by Tony Hinchcliffe, recorded during his live performances, are set to premiere on a streaming platform. The initial special, taped at the Comedy Mothership in Austin, will make its debut on April 7th.
The upcoming shows will showcase both seasoned comedians and rising talents, with Hinchcliffe and his team of humorists offering raw, candid critiques. Additionally, some well-known personalities might make unexpected appearances.
Beyond the “Kill Tony” series, Hinchcliffe is set to deliver a one-hour stand-up special on Netflix too, according to the agreement. Details about the release dates and featured acts are yet to be disclosed.
Hinchliffe expressed his sentiment in a statement: “I, along with our entire group of Austin comedians, established artists, and rising talents, are thrilled about the prospect of showcasing our unpredictable, outrageous performance to an entirely new segment of the world. Our journey began in a small room at The Comedy Store with just 12 spectators in 2013, but after international tours and over 700 Monday uploads on YouTube, it seems our determination has borne fruit. Now, the thought that I could draw a name from a hat and that person would be performing stand-up and an improvised interview on the most popular streaming platform globally is both exhilarating and terrifying.
He mentioned, “This is the most impromptu and unscripted series you’ll find, and the artistic liberty that Netflix grants us to maintain the show authentic is a stand-up comedian’s ideal scenario. We’re thrilled to soon watch and contribute to it on Netflix.
Beyond his famous “Kill Tony” program, Hinchcliffe is widely recognized for his performances on Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady” and Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. His joke about Puerto Rico during this event sparked a media uproar, with the joke leading Puerto Rican celebrities such as Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez to publicly support Kamala Harris. Even Trump’s campaign distanced itself from the joke. Hinchcliffe did not issue an apology for the joke but admitted that a political rally might not be the ideal setting for humor.
