If you’re still reeling from the Season 3 finale, so am I. Rather than passively awaiting the arrival of The Way Home Season 4, let’s dive right in and explore the top five questions that we need answered urgently.
Currently, I’ve selected five questions to delve into, however, it’s important to note that these aren’t the only ones or the ultimate solutions. The conclusion of Season 3 in “The Way Home” provided some answers, but those are just stepping stones for more complex questions down the line.
I’ve chosen five questions to discuss, but there are many other questions too. Answers given in Season 3 serve as a foundation for additional questions in the future.
1. Colton, an adult at the time of his demise, was aware of the family secret prior to passing away; could we expect a resurrection?
2. Del chose to journey back to 1974, but might she revisit that pond in the future?
3. Alice and Max shared a kiss, yet Noah has reached out expressing longing for her; who will she ultimately be with?
Unfortunately, we won’t delve into those intriguing topics just yet. However, the eagerly anticipated TV series has more pressing matters to attend to as it gears up for Season 4 in the coming year. Here’s a sneak peek at what awaits us initially.
The Way Home Season 4 needs to reveal who Casey is
In the final episode of The Way Home Season 3, we came very near to discovering Casey’s true identity, but just as we were about to find out, the revelation was unexpectedly held back from us at the last second.
Instead of encountering Casey, Alice blurts out that she believes Casey’s parents are herself and Max. Casey corrects her mistake, indicating an intent to depart. Casey acknowledges being a Landry and Goodwin, but mentions they don’t want to violate additional rules by disclosing any more information.
It might take some time until we have definite answers, but currently, the widely accepted idea is that Jacob could be Casey’s father. In Episode 10, for the first time, they were seen together, with Casey aiding Jacob in his struggle against Louis Goodwin by presenting Susanna’s genuine will to him.
It’s increasingly apparent that Casey and Landry might be father and son, despite what the show creators suggest. Given that Alice has been eliminated as a possibility, Jacob seems to be the strongest contender. Moreover, they bear a striking resemblance.
Currently, Jacob seems to have vanished once more, but we believe we’ve pinpointed his hideout – making things significantly more intricate.
As a gamer, I can’t help but wonder why we didn’t get the big reveal about Casey in Season 3. Showrunner Alexandra Clarke shared with TV Insider that they had a chance to spill all the beans in Episode 10, but decided against it because the revelation was too good to be just another surprise in a series of surprises. With so much more story left untold about Casey, who’s as unpredictable and fascinating as they come, I can see why they held back.
I adore the character of Casey, and Vaughan Murrae portrays them so flawlessly that it seems as if they could be anyone. What makes this even more intriguing is that there are hints of Goodwin, Augustine, and Landry within their character. It’s delightful to see the audience trying to figure out who they truly are behind the mask.
Certainly, the response will be disclosed. However, there seems to be more narrative depth yet to unfold, making this revelation more impactful than merely presenting it swiftly. Given its magnitude and importance, I believe it’s worth exploring further instead of casually revealing in a brief scene of the final episode. Hence, I can assure you that they are truthfully not Alice’s child.
Was this the best decision? Make your own mind up, but I certainly wasn’t thrilled.
Where has Jacob disappeared to?
After all, the real question lies in where Jacob was hiding. Towards the end, letters meant for Del were visible on the table, including a fresh one from Jacob himself. In it, Jacob expressed concern about endangering his family, believing that the letters would cease if he vanished.
Sam phones and informs her that Jacob has gone. “Don’t worry,” Sam reassures me as we switch to a scene of him standing by a pond. “But how can you be sure about that, Sam?” I ask. “I simply… do,” he responds, gazing at the water.
For now, let’s delve into the mystery of Jacob, while we save our exploration on Sam for later. It seems Jacob has disappeared, but given his past, it’s unlikely this event is limited to the current timeline. Given my understanding, Jacob was connected to that place, so it’s plausible he might be making a beeline towards Elijah in 1816. The reasoning behind this assumption? His greatest adversary appears to have been neutralized now.
Following the devastating fire at the Landry farm, Cyrus came perilously close to death and lost his ability to communicate verbally. Susanna conceals Cyrus’ secret, managing Port Haven in a manner that suits her while giving the impression of Cyrus’ rule. With Jacob now secure as an ally of the Landrys, he can safely return to the life he abandoned.
He deeply cares for Elijah, but his quest for revenge in contemporary times didn’t turn out as planned. Furthermore, he has now obtained irrefutable evidence of Susanna’s true intentions, which he intends to confront Cyrus’ offspring with.
But there’s another scenario: Casey didn’t provide all the information about the Goodwins and Landrys. Instead, he slipped away without answering his questions. It’s possible that he might be searching for them now, but doing so could violate the rules of the pond.
As a gamer, I’m left pondering about Colton. It’s no secret that Jacob knew what Colton uncovered the day he perished, and now, he’s trying to bend time itself just for one more encounter with his son. Could it be that a Time-Twisted Family Gathering, or as I like to call it, a Collision Theory reunion, is in our future?
Who is Elliot’s mom time-traveling with?
The biggest surprise in the Season 3 finale was learning the true identity of Elliot’s mother, a revelation that turned out to be surprising given she had appeared in earlier episodes.
In the concluding scene of The Way Home, Elliot peruses a letter from his mother that his father had delivered. He identifies the text as coming from a T.S. Eliot book, noting their shared name. Subsequently, Alice appears, reminiscing about the girl from 1974 who presented her with the same literary work.
Alice mentions, “I believe we’ve crossed paths with your mother,” leaving Elliot puzzled about how a clock bearing a quote from the same poem as found in the letter could have been embedded in a wall that predates the book’s publication.
After re-reading the letter, he infers that his mother must have traveled through time as well, since “I leap for love” was written, a phrase suggesting this possibility. Kat comments, “There’s only one explanation – she had to go with Landry.” As we watch Elliot’s mom write the note and secretly place it in the crib (ah, the shocking revelation that Elliot is the mystery baby!), simultaneously the enigmatic duo leap into the pond.
In simpler terms, it’s clear that the individual in question is a total mystery to us. He must be someone familiar with the pond for him to utilize it initially, but at this point, we have no additional leads or information about him.
Next, there are additional queries to consider. Where did she journey during her travels? What changes transpired in her life? Is it possible that we’ve encountered her at a different juncture in time without realizing it? The fourth season will likely delve back into 1974 to uncover some answers, but that depends on whether Elliot’s mother is indeed from that particular timeline.
Apart from that, we might wonder how Elliot came to be with Vic. The scene where Colton discovered Elliot near the pond and took him to Del hints at a deeper part of Elliot’s background yet to be revealed.
Sam’s real identity
Let’s resume our focus on Sam Bishop, as there’s something fishy about his identity. Recall when he stated, “Don’t worry, everything will be alright,” while we saw him near the pond? You might wonder, “How can you be so sure, Sam?” To which he responded cryptically, “I simply… do.
It seems quite plausible that Sam is actually a person from the future disguising himself as Jacob, given the established rule that one cannot move forward in time but only backward. If Sam possesses the ability to travel through time, then this would support the theory that he comes from the future.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that creators often subtly name their characters after various things, including real people. In this game, it seems Sam could be named after Saint Augustine, who was a bishop in the Church of Saint Augustine. It’s a clever nod, don’t you think?
Is it possible that Sam’s relationship mirrors the ancient story of Samson and Delilah, where deceit arises from Sam’s own actions? It seems that Sam may be a decoy to incriminate Delilah in Season 4, but we are yet to discover who penned those letters.
What happens to Lingermore now?
As Casey departs, Jacob discovers that not only did Susanna help him when he needed it, but also learns that Lingermore, their residence in 1816, had been bequeathed to the Landry family by its previous owners.
After Cyrus could no longer speak, Susanna decided to make a change, but it was her will that was altered by her sons following her demise. However, a forged copy of this will had been used to ensure Lingermore remained within the Goodwin family, with Evelyn residing there until at least the year 2000.
Did Jacob’s sharing of his knowledge with Kat, Del, and Alice guarantee future changes? Recall that after Jacob attempted to burn down Goodwin Vineyard, the relationship between the two families was far from amicable. While they may have legal backing, it doesn’t mean the Goodwins will back down easily.
This version aims to maintain the original meaning while using more natural and conversational language, making it easier for a reader to understand.
You can now stream The Way Home’s third season on Hallmark Plus! Don’t miss out on unraveling the mystery behind Colton’s resurrection impossibility, speculating about potential alterations in Season 4, and discovering the top-rated Hallmark films and series of all time.
