Killing Floor 3 Delayed, Post-Launch Update To Undo A Controversial Change

Tripwire Interactive has disclosed that the expected launch of Killing Floor 3, initially planned for March 25, is being pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined date later in the year. Various adjustments will be implemented in the game, not only for the revised release date but also following it.

One significant modification is a post-release adjustment that will allow players to choose perk classes and characters separately, unlike the initial change where they were tied together. This alteration sparked some controversy among fans, much like the criticism faced by Battlefield 2042 during its launch regarding hero-style classes.

According to a recent announcement from our studio, backed by Embracer Group, we’re collaborating on a schedule to tackle various concerns players expressed during the beta testing, such as performance issues, user interface, lighting, and weapon handling. To clarify, an update that enables you to individually pick your perk class and character is scheduled for after the game’s official release.

For preorders placed on different platforms, refund policies may differ. For US-based PlayStation preorders, customers have the choice to either keep their order or cancel it. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the order will be automatically cancelled and a refund processed. On the other hand, all global PlayStation preorders will be handled similarly – they will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

In simpler terms, since Xbox won’t bill users until 7-10 days prior to the game’s release, they will handle the cancellation of all preorders automatically. You don’t need to request refunds.

On personal computers, pre-orders placed on the Epic Games Store are automatically cancelled and refunded, whereas pre-orders on Steam stay active; users must manually cancel and request a refund for their orders on Steam.

In the year 2091, Killing Floor 3 is a cooperative multiplayer game that leans heavily into the horror genre. This is 70 years post the events of Killing Floor 2 and finds us squaring off against a Horzine-created breed of zombies, or Zeds, who have been bioengineered to serve their masters. In this grim scenario, it’s up to a resistance group known as Nightfall to wage war against these Zeds in an effort to save humankind from extinction.

In Killing Floor 3, you can either play on your own or team up with as many as five other players. Notably, this game supports cross-play across all platforms. A beta version was recently held last month, and TopMob’s early impressions of the game have been favorable. We expressed that Killing Floor 3 leaves a strong first impression, featuring intense gunplay with lots of gore, along with hints of its potential longevity.
