How to use Hunting Assistants in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can relish the hunt on your own, but having Hunting Assistants by your side will definitely simplify things for you.

As a fellow hunter, I can tell you that Hunting Assistants will be an invaluable aid in your quests to take down monstrous foes. Unlike my co-op counterparts, these allies operate differently. Firstly, you’ll need to unlock them within the game to reap their rewards.

How to unlock Hunting Assistants in Monster Hunter Wilds

At the beginning of your journey, Hunting Assistants are initially secured. To proceed, you must finish the initial three chapters. Afterward, interact either with Gemma in Windward Plains or Werner in the Ruins of Wyveria. They will reward you with Smithy’s Seal of Quality and Werner’s Test Run respectively.

In this game, side missions linked to the main quest offer distinct activities. For instance, Gemma may assign you a task to test a new gadget and track down Lala Barina, while Werner could ask you to pursue a Guardian Doshaguma. These missions are essentially lessons on how Hunting Assistants operate within the game. Be sure to finish them after you’ve progressed through the essential main story chapters.

How to use Hunting Assistants

Hunting Assistants set apart from standard NPC AIs, who aid you post an SOS Flare activation. At present, there are only two options: Gemma and Werner. Upon embarking on one of their missions, it’s essential to bait a monster to the area where either Gemma or Werner is stationed.

When you manage to attract the monster, your Hunting Companion will lay a trap. Once a monster gets close enough to the trap, it can aid you during your hunting expedition. After finishing some additional tasks, Hunting Companions may show up at random locations across different maps. To check if any companion is present, consult the Environmental Analysis screen. If they’re there, make note of their location as it will greatly advantage your hunt to draw your target towards them.
