‘Parasite’ Studio CJ ENM Taps Industry Veteran Jung Hyun-joo to Head Film Division

The prominent entertainment company CJ ENM has brought on board experienced executive Jung Hyun-joo to lead their film division. Previously serving as the CEO of South Korean film firm Acemaker, Jung assumes this new position with immediate effect.

The appointment will bring a major industry figure to CJ ENM’s film department, who has previously played an important role in the success of Bong Joon Ho’s blockbuster “The Host.” During her time at Chungeorahm Film, Jung was responsible for overseeing production and marketing, contributing significantly to one of Korea’s highest-grossing films.

Julia has over two decades worth of expertise in various aspects such as production, funding, and distribution. Her professional history involves leading the Korean distribution for global hits like “The Lord of the Rings,” “Shaolin Soccer,” and “Kill Bill” at Taewon Entertainment. Under her guidance, more than 100 international films were introduced to Korean audiences.

In the 2010s, Jung was responsible for investment and production at Showbox, contributing to both commercial and critical hits like “Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time,” “The Thieves,” “Inside Men,” and “A Taxi Driver.” Lately, she has been directing investment and distribution at Acemaker, overseeing projects such as “Noryang: Deadly Sea,” “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” and “Black Money,” and also working on several series for streaming services.

30 years old company, CJ ENM, intends to utilize Jung’s rich industry knowledge to bolster its movie division and expedite its worldwide growth plans.
