‘Supernatural,’ About Shaman and His Skeptical Son, Acquired by Taskovski Ahead of Premiere at Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (EXCLUSIVE)

Taskovski Films has acquired the rights to “Supernatural” before its global debut, which will take place in the International Competition section at the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. Ventura Durall’s movie delves into the blurred lines between scientific knowledge and alternative healing practices.

The series ‘Supernatural’ revolves around André Malby, a highly esteemed shaman known for his healing abilities. He is visited once again, this time by a fervent devotee claiming he miraculously saved her life, and his distant son, Mathu, who followed a conventional medical path and abandoned his father’s teachings.

As the years pass, Mathu has evolved into quite the opposite of his father, Malby. Unlike Malby, who was a pleasure-seeker and a charmer with women, Mathu is a traditional doctor, content in his domestic life with his family. However, his seemingly peaceful life starts to crumble when Anna, a renowned Spanish actress and fervent admirer of Malby, reaches out to him. She asserts that his father miraculously healed her telepathically. This revelation compels Mathu to grapple with his own family’s past turmoil while questioning Anna’s faith in Malby.

The movie was created by Durall and Sergi Cameron from Nanouk Films, while Maria Colomer Canyelles, another member of Nanouk Films, acted as the executive producer. Additionally, it was collaboratively produced by Charlotte Guénin and Kristian Van der Heyden.

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Irena Taskovski, the visionary CEO and head of acquisitions at Taskovski Films, has announced their ongoing partnership with Ventura Durall and Nanouk Films. Renowned for presenting compelling and contemporary topics to worldwide viewers, this collaboration now delves into the intriguing conflict between science and belief, weaving a potent human narrative. Given our current era’s changing views on healing and the mysterious, I find this project particularly timely and captivating.

Durall stated: “The movie ‘Supernatural’ unfolds in both the U.S. and Europe, delving into where science and alternative healing methods meet. It moves past conflicting beliefs to examine if there can be harmony – a place where reason and instinct, traditional medicine and spirituality, can work together instead of clashing.

In his latest works, Durall has produced “Lessons from the New School” (2020), “The Offering” (2020), and “Six Nights of August” (2022).

The 27th Thessaloniki Intl. Documentary Festival runs March 6 – 16.
