In response to Kai Cenat suggesting he didn’t grasp why PewDiePie gained popularity on YouTube, MrBeast countered by saying it was a “humble admission” or “concession.
While streaming my Batman Arkham marathon on Twitch, I found myself at a loss for words when it came to understanding PewDiePie’s massive fanbase. “I can’t seem to grasp the appeal of PewDiePie,” I confessed. “I apologize if I sound out of touch… I honestly don’t know what draws people into him.
MrBeast responded to TopMob’s post of the clip on Twitter/X, defending PewDiePie’s legacy:
As a gamer, I played a significant role in shaping YouTube’s culture. Meme Review was my favorite, and I looked forward to it every night as I munched on dinner, also enjoying the random gameplay sessions. In the gaming community, Poods is like a mythical goat.
I’m the one who significantly molded the essence of YouTube culture. I deeply lament the absence of Meme Review and eagerly looked forward to it as my daily dinner companion, while I enjoyed watching him play random games. Poof, the goat, was quite entertaining too!

MrBeast’s response to Kai Cenat sparks further divide
Multiple individuals concurred with MrBeast, commenting, “I share MrBeast’s viewpoint. It seems to me that the disparity is primarily due to differences in intended audiences. While Kai Cenat may not grasp it entirely, plenty of others will.
Absolutely, I’m on the same page with you. It seems that many of these new creators don’t show enough appreciation for those who laid the foundation before them.
A third person added, “It’s just a matter of time before people wonder how they ever watched Kai. In ten years, that will be the general consensus.
Yet, others remained unpersuaded. “While I see your point MrBeast,” a user said, “it’s not the popular opinion.” Another user added, “He can’t be faulted, as some of these individuals weren’t around when PewDiePie was at his peak.
An additional comment stated, “He may have influenced YouTube culture significantly, similar to Kai, but personally, I didn’t find Pewdiepie’s character or humor appealing. I found it rather dull, and he seemed arrogant to me.

As a semi-retired gamer, I now reside in the vibrant cityscape of Japan with my beloved family – my wife and our little bundle of joy, Bjorn, who arrived in July 2023. As I write this, neither Kai Cenat nor PewDiePie have yet to address the initial comments made by the Twitch star or MrBeast’s subsequent remarks.
