Antoni Porowski Reveals Surprising Truths About His Queer Identity and New Culinary Adventure

Antoni Porowski may not be as queer as you think he is.

In today’s “Just for EbMaster” podcast, he admits that his first encounter with the “Wizard of Oz” tale was through the movie “Wicked”. He clarifies that prior to this, he hadn’t watched the musical and wasn’t fully aware of its plot. He identifies as gay, but not entirely within all the categories.

Regardless of whether he’s considered ‘wicked’ or not, Porowski has been prominently known within Hollywood for the past seven years, as one of the openly gay members of the renowned “Fab Five” from the acclaimed series “Queer Eye”.

In its ninth series, Porowski is aiming for a tenth success. Yet, he admits that the journey might have lost some of its initial sparkle. “I won’t say I turned cynical over time,” he explains, “but it’s like when you do anything for a long period…I think I just stopped appreciating it as much.

During the home makeovers, Porowski found it challenging to come up with new ways to discuss food. He admitted, “I’m essentially searching for alternative words. I wonder how I can phrase it differently like, ‘Can you share your feelings towards food?’ or, ‘What were some traditional dishes prepared by your grandma?'” Porowski expressed.

However, Jeremiah Brent stepped into the role previously held by Bobby Berk during Season 9. “He stirs feelings within me when I think about it,” Porowski remarks, “with his fresh perspective.

He additionally emphasizes that sharing and emphasizing tales about queer individuals, particularly transgender ones, carries a greater significance now as the LGBTQ community is under attack from conservative politicians. “If we don’t keep narrating those stories,” Porowski states, “history may repeat itself.” “We are witnessing signs and symbols from the past reappearing on prominent platforms, which is alarming at best.

If we keep sharing various narratives, we’ll be more likely to recall them, reducing the likelihood of repeating old behaviors or tolerating their recurrence. So, regardless if it’s a Republican, Democrat, or another party, I believe it’s crucial that we persist in telling a range of stories. As entertainers, and particularly with ‘Queer Eye’, I feel it’s our duty to do so.

Antoni Porowski‘s latest venture is his new Nat Geo food and travel show, titled “There’s No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski,” which made its debut this past week. In each episode, Porowski journeys with famous guests to various parts of the globe to delve into their heritage and understand how it might have influenced their dietary preferences and family customs. The inaugural episode showcased Florence Pugh exploring England. The list of celebrities slated for the season includes Issa Rae (Senegal), Justin Theroux (Italy), James Marsden (Germany), Henry Golding (Borneo) and Awkwafina (South Korea).

Should “No Taste Like Home” be renewed, Porowksi expresses his eagerness to travel to Poland alongside Martha Stewart, delving into their shared Polish heritage. He recalls watching Stewart prepare cabbage rolls on her TV program with her mother, a cherished memory from his childhood. “As a child, I religiously watched those YouTube videos of hers,” he explains. “She was the only representation of a Polish individual in media that I knew of, and she took pride in making cabbage rolls. That was amazing to me, as a Pole, because I didn’t realize that people could take pride in Polish cuisine growing up.
