Kai Cenat Sparks Heated Debate After Questioning PewDiePie’s Popularity

Twitch sensation Kai Cenat ignited passionate discussions among followers when he expressed puzzlement about the process by which they developed fandom for YouTube celebrity, PewDiePie.

Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is one of the top individually managed YouTube channels, coming second only to Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, who claimed the title in June 2024 by outperforming T-Series and taking over as YouTube’s most subscribed channel.

Since 2010, Kjellberg has been generating content, gaining fame through his amusing walkthroughs of horror games such as Amnesia, eventually exploring various other categories like ‘Pew News’ and musical partnerships.

Currently, he resides in Japan with his spouse and newborn child, having largely stepped away from his active career. However, despite producing less frequent content, he continues to be a significant influence in the digital world.

In recent years, the popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has soared to internet stardom, earning a spot among today’s influential figures… yet, he remains puzzled by the appeal that preceded him.

Kai Cenat “can’t see” how fans got into PewDiePie

Recently, Cenat completed his marathon playthrough of the Batman Arkham games, during which he wore an assortment of specially designed bat suits throughout the entire series.

While streaming, I shared my thoughts, mentioning that I found it puzzling how PewDiePie managed to accumulate such a massive following, something I’ve always struggled to grasp as Kai put it.

As a gamer, let me start by saying this might seem like a long shot, but hear me out. I’ve got to admit, I just can’t fathom how those guys managed to infiltrate PewDiePie’s channel. I apologize if this sounds surprising, but it’s the truth as I see it…I’m still struggling to understand how they made it into that content.

During the show, Kai’s guest, Reggie, concurred with him, openly stating that he “had not followed” or “was not a viewer of” the YouTube personality as a child.

“I’ll be honest — that might be an L take, though,” Kai continued. “You feel me?”

Reggie believed his viewpoint was justified, yet he made sure to remind the streamer that not every content creator appeals to everyone’s taste.

Reggie remarked, ‘Sometimes things are just this way, but not everyone suits every situation.’ He warned, ‘People might even say something like that about you.’

“Facts!” Kai admitted. “For me, personally though? I don’t know.”

I found myself right in the middle of an intense discussion on social media when my thoughts on PewDiePie were shared. Some people backed up my perspective, while many others passionately defended the beloved Swedish YouTuber.

“Pewdiepie is an OG of YouTube, gotta give him respect,” one wrote.

The difference between generations, some argue, is that PewDiePie has been a trailblazer for many others without them realizing it.

“I am with Kai, I didn’t get PewDiePie,” yet another said.

As of now, Pewdiepie hasn’t responded to Kai, but right now, he’s fully enjoying fatherhood to his newborn son, Bjorn, who arrived in July 2023.
